I don't really care - and this is a problem for cycling.
Individual rankings are daft. Comparing Contador, Gilbert and Cavendish is flawed and like comparing and F1 car, a rally car and a drag racing car.
However, what they should be doing is making a bigger deal of the team competition. A much biiger deal. After all, all the teams are in all the races (unlike the individual riders), so that's a level playing field. There's always going to be interest.
Get a sponsor, give big prizes and make it the performance criteria for WT licences, not 'the mystery formula'. And every point counts, not just the top 5. (It would also give relevance to the Tour of Beijing)
