Why did Nibali start training on Mount Etna?

Nibali begins 2011 preparations on Mount Etna . When and where did he cover the base training? Basso and Nibali hold different training systematics .

Basso rides on flat with easy tempo but Nibali rides on the hills .

cus he lives near by so this way he can also do the reckon on one of the MTF stages of this year giro. all this is in the article so i don't see what there is to discuss about it.

Yeah, there will be lots of stories about Italians doing recon on parts of Giro stages over the winter. Nibali wants to win the Giro and this is how it happens. Basso did tons of recon last year. Nibali wouldn't be training hard now, just learning the climbs and starting to plan strategy. I imagine it's easier to stay disciplined in training and eating when you know exactly what you're preparing for.
