Why is Cunego not on Form?

Cunego's Tour De Suisse form has followed him. He has ridden well. Unfortunately there is a TT tomorrow. His major weakness.

But ultimately in the hardest mountaintop finish Cunego was beaten by the nr 9. of the Giro. No offense to Kruijswijk, but.. hmm.

Also the power estimates suggest that the level in this Tour was a lot lower than previous years. Even not significantly higher than TdS/Dauphine, which is rare.

If we go the power outputs route then Hinault and Lemond never would have had any chances in any of the Tours in the 2000's.

Power outputs performance can not be used to gauge the competition IMO, because it could be a result of outside pressure, non-related to riders.
