a bit off topic but....

I am beginning to wonder if the reluctancy of some nations to punish their riders is due to the falling apart of an agreement between the respective national Federations and the UCI. I could see why they would be upset if what was a mutually agreed upon, or paid for, arangement turned out to be a bit more favoring to certian riders and not others. It is hard for me to believe that the UCI had all thier eggs in one basket. If they were willing to take the risks of what they are now being accused of, I would not put it past them to have put forth the same oppotunities to riders or teams other than LA/ USPS.

Frankie and Betsy.

A house that large is too expensive for mortals to afford to operate or maintain. It's a white elephant unless there are some Oil Barons in Austin who want it. Possibly not a large potential market, so it's probably overbuilt for the area.

Understanding the run-rate may have helped motivate comeback 2.0. He wouldn't be the first athlete to have overbuilt his house based on unsustainable finances.

The place in Colorado is probably a better choice for the Andreu's.

What is it with global sporting organisations based in Switzerland?

FIFA
UCI
IOC

A rhum bunch if ever there was one. Must be all the fresh air up in the Alps, helps keep the stink of corruption from whafting their way.

Never, never, never. Three words which will sum up cycling 1999-2011.

(Apologies for being a bit off-topic).

What about dope tests not indicating his cancer? They should have identified his elevated beta-hGC level, which could have led to an earlier diagnosis. Maybe that was held over the UCI's head (so to speak).

That's what I thought. Things got desperate and it's every man for himself.

But then, Verbruggen opened his mouth.

Hein is simply underscoring his value to all potential suitors here. Paid sex is nothing new to anyone, this is just about price.

Downsizing, what a surprise.

That house has been on the market for a couple of years. It's had the price dropped a few times.

As Floyd said, Ochowicz probably plays a part in the UCI's relationship with Lance. Obviously Ochowicz has been a large figure in cycling in the US for a long time and served on UCI committees with Hein even before he became president of USA Cycling.

Title says it all...Why so many resources wasted on Wonderboy?

From the Godfather II:

Johnny Ola: "Hyman Roth always makes money for his partners. One by one, our old friends are gone. Death, natural or not, prison, deported. Hyman Roth is the only one left, because he always made money for his partners."

In the end, when Roth wanted to retire and live quietly, he could not find a refuge country to protect him from the feds. He was clipped by his former partners.

Pretty sure it was his brother-in law, by accident. And it was a shotgun blast at fairly close range . . . GL was a lot closer to the grave than LA ever was. His comeback from such an accident to the height of the sport again was orders of magnitude a greater accomplishment.

.

Is that a typo, the house is situated on 447.8 acres? Geez, I know Texans like things big, but that is over the top. And WTF is the story with the garage. A 5200 sqft house, 447.8 acres and a 2 car garage? How to do fit all the team bikes he was trying to sell on Ebay in a 2 car garage? What kind of doping operation can you fund with such limited space? The man is innocent.
