To be honest, there are some good climbs on GC, but why go to an island where the biggest mountain is almost 2000 metres lower, than on the Island that is a boat ride away.

dunno, cos of the doctors?

Probably for the same reason he didn't go mountain training in the Netherlands....

maybe Froome doesn't know about these.....if the biggest mountain is important

Mt Teide is not in top 30.

Well, whatever he's doing, he's completely confident that he's not going to be caught. Astonishing, Armstrong-like confidence.

I must admit, I'm intrigued by this. Captain Alien Full *** Overnight Zero To Hero calling for testing of himself and his fellow Tinerfeños? He's just so sure that he can't go positive, that he actually wants to be tested?

What in the world could he possibly be on?

No one knows. Everything is conjecture. Until he gets popped and follows it up with a confession, no one will ever know.

Don't hold your breathe on that one coming any time soon.

Froome initially took to Twitter, stating, "Three major TDF contenders staying on Mt Teide and no out of competition tests for the past 2 weeks. Very disappointing."

Would you want to be training on the Stelvio every day right now ?

Height + climate.

Not on the Stelvio, but Costa and many others are doing their training in Sierra Nevada right now and they seem to be doing fine.

Don't forget that Pico Veleta is like 1000m higher than mt Teide.

Yes, well if the UCI plonk a tester in the hotel over the next 12 months - which they're almost now obliged to do - it will be very instructive (and damning) if Sky decide to change their training location.

His bike six hours per day.

Yes, and he wasn't doing that before 2011, and nor was any other rider in the field. Now, all of a sudden, his six hours a day is so much better than his pre-2011 (or every other rider's program) that he transforms overnight from mediocre to the best cyclist in the world for 2 and a half years running?

Pull up your pants - your gullibility is showing.

And sell the newer training location as a "marginal gain".

It was just a joke, using that famous Armstrong quote.

I suspect Froome wants testing done now because he is clean at this point.

Sounds and looks like a thief pointing out thievery from where I'm standing.

Do Sky just cycle up the mountains though, or do they also rest up there? I thought the favoured training technique was to exercise at sea level but rest at high altitude (somewhat contrary to the popular myth).

I think more for when he goes 'FR' at the Tour his response will be "I asked for more testing, what can I do?"

Nah. Froome just doesn't trust that Contador is clean and why would he, the pillock has already been caught cheating once. A bit more thorough testing at this stage, and Contador might not make the staring line of this years tour :)

Ah, sorry. Hard to tell sarc from fanboy sometimes. Now that you mention it, I do remember that Armstrong quote.

Very droll.

Mt Teide is way way down the list. Plenty of other mountain roads on mainland Europe where snow and weather is not a problem.

ADA obviously dont like flying, hence the teams use Tenerife.

What happens in Tenerife stays in Tenerife.

The shenanigans these guys are pulling to separate themselves from the confirmed dopers is laughable at best, sad at worst.

Anyhow, isn't it Froome's wife who tends to do most of the tweeting for him? I seriously doubt Chris would say something like that... in public. Guy is too nice.

And as to why people would go to Tenerife to train, it's pretty obvious: Riders can take their families with them. Weather is always good, hotels are top-notch, food is top-notch and the climbs are top-notch.

Ms Froome seems to be fighthing the battle on twitter yes. I thought she quit after all those bitter Armstrong/Contador fans attacked her.

A subtle dig at Spain today..

No doubt that if Contador drops Froome, the accusations will start flying.

.

I discussed this on twitter a couple days ago.

Gumball ‏@InnerTube1903 May 26
“I remember thinking, so it’s okay for him to leave and not give anybody else a hand?” If he leaves, will I have to carry his bags?” [quote from Froome's book re Wiggins]

Fleur ‏@vamosalberto May 26
@InnerTube1903 Froome comes across as a big **** in his book. Not what he was going for I would think.

Gumball ‏@InnerTube1903 May 26
@vamosalberto Nope. It really stripes away the "nice guy" persona we are so used to hearing about.

Fleur ‏@vamosalberto May 26
@InnerTube1903 yep. "But he seems like a nice guy" we always heard well I guess not

Gumball ‏@InnerTube1903 May 26
@vamosalberto I don't know how he can make himself appear the bad guy in his own book but he pulled it off. Strangely impressive.

Not so nice it seems....! Or maybe Michelle wrote the book for him, who knows.

Is it bad that I am actually looking forward to this? It'll all come back to bite them one day.
