Why would they want Moreau?

Apparently Christophe Moreau has signed a one-year deal with Caisse d'Epargne for 2010. The question that immediately springs to mind is: WHY?

Moreau is 38 years old, has done absolutely nothing of note for two years, and even if the team sponsor demands the presence of French riders in the team, there's loads of better and younger French cyclists out there.

Why would Caisse want to sign him?

Good mountain domestique? Maybe they're just padding the mattress so a certain young Spaniard will have a softer landing...

Maybe he's going to ride for the team for a year, then fill some sort of director sportif/mentoring role.

But Moreau isn't any good in the mountains any more. And, with one more year in his legs in 2010, it's hard to see how he could get better.
