Will the "BooBirds" help or hinder Alberto?

I don't think the negative reception will fuel him but he can focus it out. There might be times when he'll have to be alert to the spectators for his personal safety though and that's not a good thing to have to worry about.

Him being physically assaulted is a realistic danger:(

I hope that people realise that if they assault a rider during a race they are actually destroying road cycling.

Yes, but they think that in doing so they're actually cleaning up cycling though.

Being delusional is something you just can't switch off and on from you know. They remind me of that crazy priest that tackled the brazilian marathon runner in the Athens olympics.

The determined ignorance of the doping apologist.

Even if he tries to ignore it, he will be irritated as most people would be. Doubt if it will effect his performance unless it gets totally out of hand and spectators start doing silly things like touching him or screaming in his face.

Some of the spectators at the Giro gave him a mouthful and I think at the TDF it will be worse simply because the court case has been more of a news item leading up to the Tour.

Not ignorance, pragmatism. Otherwise they have to boo at half of the peloton ;)

Or boo themselves too, provided their outrage and superior ethics standards extend to... for example, what they're wearing at that very moment, which is most likely made in some poor country by opressed peoples under inhumane circumstances. All so that these suckers can spend their summers complaining and booing a guy up in a mountain in the middle of nowhere.

Priorities, priorities.

It was a direct response to one of your fellow doping apologists. I didn't bring the subject up. Personally, I'm of the view that all discussion of Contador should be immediately rerouted to the more appropriate forum.

Apologizing? Me? Moi? Put down the crack pipe Jack!

I could care less what a rider does to prepare for the Tour. If this is apologizing then...

An almost perfect encapsulation of the doping apologist mindset.

Let me kindly remind you of the new sticky/rules for the TdF, whih have gone into effect today.

I'd encourage you to stop bickering as of now.

Alberto could cry himself up every mountain but the tears are still gonna blow off him backwards and hit Andy on his way up. I honestly think Alberto is strong enough to overcome whatever he could lack in mental toughness.

Is there a particular reason why July has been declared official month of anodyne posting?

For one this isn't the clinic and that has nothing to do with what month it is.

There is no reason to fear any "fans" physically harassing Contador. I mean, it may happen, but then the rest of the peleton will wait for him. Andy will make certain of that.

And what if it happens after Contador made a successful attack? Will Andy let him get a minute headstart?...

A rider, any rider, getting physically attacked would be horrible for the race and cycling's image. It may be amusing Tour lore in hindsight, Merckx getting punched or Bartali, but that **** just doesn't fly anymore.

I feel the need to point out, that I was being sarcastic. Or was it ironic ?... Not that it matters. Of course it is not acceptable for anyone to attack anyone, no matter how angry or ignorant you are.

Personally I can't quite take the boo'ers seriously. I mean, nobody bloody booed Hincapie, now did they.

George was born New York from Columbian parents. He is more closely associated with USPS and Lance so he has the whole Anlglo thing going for him. I believe that is why he is not getting booed

Virtually every cycling discussion could arguably be rerouted to the more appropriate forum for that matter.
