To be honest, if Sky ever do stump up the cash to sponsor a womens team, I hope Nicole Cooke has nothing to do with it, and Im not the only british fan who thinks so.

my opinion of her is not one of a team player. Or a humble person. Its going to be very interesting how her team do this year with so many "personalities"

Yep, I'd heard that too. Hence why even as world champ, she didn't have a team. There was also a lot of b i t c hing about the national RR last year, and the fact that cervelo had the audacity to work against her..

Must admit though, that whenever I have spoken to her, the opposite seemed true!

I guess anyones personality can be warped when the 'race face' is on...

Fascinating stuff, though yet again I have to admit to my own curiosity for a bit of informed gossip. I'd never heard any of that before. Just shows, you learn something new every day! :)

she cant afford not to be a team player this year?

I cant imagine Marianne Vos, Jeannie Longo as being team players???

Maybe slightly;)

I sort of agree with you, but if a team is strong enough and the course is suited to that kind of tactic, surely you can't begrudge teams for playing to their strengths?
No team should wilfully make that one of their strengths. Of course I begrudge teams for playing to their strengths if their strength is designed to make races boring. It's marketable to have winners, sure, but is it really a good thing to have people bored senseless by the race until the last 10 seconds just because it's marketable to have eight million race wins to point to, even if most of them were in the Tour d'Obscure, where you sent a strong team to beat a bunch of 14 year old boys and their grandfathers?

I don't know about Longo, but Marianne Vos has shown many a time that she can be a team player - the likes of Annemiek van Vleuten and Loes Gunnewijk (who Vos gifted the Dutch nationals to) have benefited greatly from other teams' reluctance to drag Marianne to the finish.

I think we will just have to agree to disagree on that one.;)

Being a team player doesn't necessarily depend on whether you're willing to do domestique work. It's also about, as team leader, how you treat those on your team. Cooke has a reputation for being very difficult to work with and quite ready to blame her team mates. She also seems to think that companies should sponsor her without any regard to financial return.

Basically, she has a reputation for being a right royal pain in the ****. And I say that as a Welshman.

Edit: That word get's starred out? It's not that bad. (If you want to know it - then think Nicky, footballer for Manchester United and England)

Has a team ever gone an entire season without winning anything?

BMC this year :p

I really can't see them win anything seeing as Cuddles will ride less. Ballan seems to be in good form though, so perhaps he'll bring them some wins.

Damnit, I was doubting between Saxo and BMC.

Though if BMC wins closely after and this won of Contador gets removed by CAS, do we Saxo voters still win!?

If Tintin got to keep his wins, so will Contador.

Contador's lawyer will jump on Di Luca's and Rebellin's case like wild dogs on a steak. And they call Spain bad, Italy is worser if you ask me :p

Not neccesarily.

The stipulation requires them to actualy get a win.

If they dont win they dont lose because its the "LAST team to GET A WIN":p

Well, there is already this thread that talks about PT teams without a win. Astana, BMC, and Euskaltel are left. Not sure about the Pro Conti teams.

The win by Sammy Sanchez can't be far off. In fact, he should've won two days ago.
