Winning Liège-Bastogne-Liège "the Vino way!

Was the irony intended in this cyclingnews headline?

'Maxim Iglinskiy won Liège-Bastogne-Liège "the Vino way"'

The vino way to me is a bag of transfused blood washed down with some micro-does of EPO or am I being too cynical?

Yes, you're too cynical. The Vino way involves a bag of money, not blood.

Nibali pretended he was tired, you can't not see it unless you're blind. It's 150,000 Euros this year. Tough times in Europe, you know..

OK, didn't want to bump this, but since someone just posted a couple minutes ago and this thread is on top anyway -

- I'd officially like to nominate this for the "Worst thread of the year" award

I think you meant "Worst CN race headline of the year".

I agree with the OP. The "Vino way" indeed.... jacked to the hilt.

As opposed to which winner of this race in the past 20 years? Really you guys give me a f@@king migraine. Do you really think anyone won a Classic in the past 20 years without being "jacked to the hilt" (your description)vs. prepared properly (the peloton's description).

Why are you guys whining about the headline?

It was a direct quote from Vino. I'm sure they saw some irony in that also and went with it. Bravo to CN and editorial staff!

If everyone is doing it, then Vino is doing it twice as much ...

when Iglinsky won sunday it was my first reaction : hey Astana wins two classics in a row, or they bought it or they had some new oil that works real well..

on the other hand why does Kreuziger still suck?

suck?
He has done quite well if you ask me, not as good as some had hoped for him, but still pretty decent

Yeah, but what have the UCI said while Boonen and QS Lotto go from contenders to dominators? There are the haves and the have nots with UCI.

Iglinsky is no more suspicious than almost any other winner we have nowadays.
He's always been very good in one day races, he has shown an occaision to climb very well also. This year he was clearly in his best form, and then with a good combination of tactics and luck, he got a win. Same goes for Gasparotto. Nibali burnt himself out getting away solo and paid for it the finale, Iglinsky used Rodriguez up in his chase and wasn't treated like a favourite so there was no concerted chase behind, both Rolland and Voekler killed counter attacking options which could have caught them.
In fact you could almost argue the same things for Iglinsky as Anglos argue for Wiggins, Evans, or francophiles for the renaissance of French cycling, that they are succeeding in a cleaner peloton.
My point of view is no more suspicious than any other winner these days.
