As the biggest Mathieu fan in Belgium I was hoping for this scenario. I’m stressing like hell that he can keep it. Comooon!!

Was really hoping for an elite sprint between these guys but yeah this always seemed like a course to go at 20k or so.

Yes, no one ever punctures on any other course where handling plays a massive part. It's a very well known fact.
Laporte punctured at 106k to go and had no actual opportunity to get back. Some of that is the course and part of that is the lack of team riding.

This course would probably be impossible with team cars anyway
