Triple? Pfft. Anything hit that high and that far ought to have a stewardess on it.

So that I have this straight, when pressed, you can't answer direct questions. Correct?

Weak sauce.

It is you who can't answer questions.. better to be the perpetual victim of the GUVMENT..Tell us about the losses your insurance carrier has been mandated to absorb. and don't bother quoting the CATO institute.. I can do that quicker myself.

I'll quote Cato all day long. It's interesting, the info is either correct or it's incorrect. But you don't bother with the material, just the source.

Insurance carrier losses? You better hope not. More lack of understanding from you. You really don't know what you are talking about. The more you write, the dumber you look.

But by all means, keep going.

Uh, so he was in Viet Nam, and a POW at that, when he was...14.

What's that term Jesse Ventura uses? Chickenhawks. Chickens when came to their actual time to serve, and hawks once they get into decision making power.

OK you guy have got to stop. You've each claimed victory about 47 times. Scott has, IMO, an indefensible position. Red skirts all around the edges with his responses. You guys should run for public office. You both got what it takes.

Scott could say his rates were going up because of the radiation that will eventually reach California.. Not unlike him showing proof that Ollie North warned Al Gore about Osama bin Laden.

What was Scott's indefensible position again?

Who gets the 48th victory?

How did I get here?

Anything that HJ disagrees with is indefensible.

I am still interested in learning everything Klink knows about the insurance and gasoline markets. I'm intrigued when he posts such, uh, depth of knowledge?

Not much going on in the US so I guess this was the best they could come up with: Utah Law Makes Coins Worth Their Weight in Gold (or Silver)

Mr. Jurkowsky said the new law “is of no real consequence,” and is purely symbolic, but supporters say it is more than political pocket change. They say that it is just a beginning, that one day soon Utah might mint its own coins, that retailers could have scales for weighing precious metals and that a state defense force could be formed to guard warehouses where the new money would be made and stored.

Anyway, back to some serious news...
Does anyone have an update on the budget balancing act in (don't increase my) Taxes? Last thing I heard they had to deal with $27B in shortfalls. And how is California coming along? Didn't they have a $25B deficit recently?

In Cali, there is a two year old temporary tax increase that is about ready to expire. Gov Brown is (of course) against this and attempting to convince Californians the increase is still needed (via ballot measure).

There's been a bit of good news;

http://www.businessinsider.com/surprise-california-tax-revenue-coming-in-above-even-the-most-optimistic-expectations-2010-4

March receipts came in $356 million above expectations, pushing the general fund revenues ahead of budget by a total $2.3 billion in the current fiscal year. Corporate income taxes were the main cash cow, no doubt powered by a booming technology sector, running 15.8% ahead of forecast.

Good thing those evil corporations employ people and pay taxes. At this rate (if the increase in revenue holds) the budget deficit will fix itself. Even a minor decrease in unemployment will really help. That way the idiots in Sacramento can go back to doing whatever it is they do best.

Since the quote references the tech sector in Cali, do you count yourself amongst the ones fearing a new tech/internet bubble (see Silicon Valley and the technology industry - The new tech bubble)?

""Teabagger Queen Palin Spits on Nation's War Dead

If it's Memorial Day this is the day for all of the gutless right-wingers and teabagger Republicans to desecrate the flag by wrapping themselves in it while they pontificate about their fascist ideology and spit on the graves of those who died to at least in theory protect our freedoms. America's favorite parasite, Sarah Palin has never been accused of having dignity nor shame but this latest cynical re-launch represents a new low for the white trash diva from Wasilla.

In yet another of the now standard orgies of shameful behavior that charlatans engage in, Sarah 'lock and load' Palin has latched onto the Rolling Thunder Memorial Day rally as her latest public relations spectacle. Palin, out of the news as of late for her detestable national display of self-victimhood in the aftermath of the Tucson Arizona shooting rampage is back with a vengeance. The klavern of clowns that is the 2012 Republican party presidential field is bracing for the queen of the teabaggers and the ugly shrillness, race-baiting, rabble-rousing and insinuations of Obama the secret Muslim is going to be kicked up several notches. Palin, like a bad case of genital Herpes just isn't going away, a parasite that refuses to detach from it's host, Sarah Barracuda is poking her proboscis back into the national political scene and a shameful corporate media that has barely finished licking it's wound after being played by "the Donald" is eagerly lapping it all up in all of their inept laziness.

Not that Sarah Palin, a Wasilla hillbilly piece of northern trailer trash who hit it big when John McCain, a real life war hero shockingly plucked her from obscurity in a desperate attempt to win the presidency is doing anything different. All of the Republicans and especially the teabaggers revel in shamelessly exploiting the nation's war dead for their own political expediency. They are always the ones thumping their chests the hardest, shrieking the loudest for others to die on foreign soil for their slothful ignorance and waving the bloody flag of raw nationalism yet what they truly exemplify is a truly stupid form of cowardice unique to our star-spangled sheep colony. Today on Memorial Day, 2011 there are many a BBQ being fired up with the beer-sodden pigs that are the scumbaggers eating cheap hotdogs, waving their made in China replicas of Old Glory and praising chickenhawks like Palin and her ilk for their faux patriotism.

I'm shocked! The right-wing government of Holland has approved a new motion, which, at the end of summer, will require the coffee shops to become private clubs and national status for membership! Thus only the dutch will be able to smoke a joint in the cafès of Amsterdam!

That's it, European civilization is officially over. :(

http://e360.yale.edu/feature/off_the_pedestal_creating_a_new_vision_of_economic_growth/2409/

Though not widely accepted, the case is strong that growth in the affluent U.S. is now doing more harm than good. Today, the reigning policy orientation holds that the path to greater well-being is to grow and expand the economy. GDP, productivity, profits, the stock market, and consumption must all go up. This growth imperative trumps all else. It can undermine families, jobs, communities, the climate and environment, and a sense of place and continuity because it is confidently asserted and widely believed that growth is worth the price that must be paid for it.

But an expanding body of evidence is now telling us to think again. The never-ending drive to grow the overall U.S. economy is ruining the environment; it fuels a ruthless international search for energy and other resources; it fails at generating the needed jobs; it hollows out communities; and it rests on a manufactured consumerism that is not meeting the deepest human needs. Americans are substituting growth and consumption for dealing with the real issues — for doing things that would truly make us and the country better off.

Of course you can substitute the US with any other major economy.

Sadly there's no way a government would ever admit to there being "limits of growth".

world nut daily..

""So, what is a young man who wishes to be a happy and productive member of society but does not wish to find himself locked into a life of post-divorce serfdom to an ill-tempered, overweight woman with a legal obligation to children who may not even belong to him? Fortunately, the answer is both clear and easily applied. To increase your chances of marital and familial success in life, it is vital to stay away from what are known as "career" or "working" women.

While this will not eliminate all the risks of what has become known as Marriage 2.0, it will return a man's probability of successful marriage to that of the earlier, more marriage-friendly era. Marriage to a stay-at-home wife rather than one with a full-time job reduces the risk of divorce by nearly one-third. Just the simple act of avoiding romantic involvement with working women is nearly enough on its own to again make marriage a viable option for young men.

Moreover, stay-at-home mothers make for much better mothers as they spend 91 percent more time with their children than working mothers do. The most remarkable observation is that stay-at-home mothers spend 12 more minutes per day on the physical care of their children than working mothers spend with their children in total; the net result of this insufficient attention is that the children of working mothers are 23 percent less likely to pass college entrance exams, 29 percent more likely to be unemployed and are more likely to be overweight by age 11.""

Like scott he probably doesn't like teachers much either..Republican? you betcha
