Meanwhile, the “liberal media” (CBS in this case) just reported on how your Congressional reps spent about $2,200 per night to head to the Copenhagen summit. This isn’t the entire cost including airfare, it’s just for the hotels and the stay. Some Reps tab came to over $10,000. This was all signed and approved by Pelosi.

Just a quick look on Travelocity, I was able to find a stay at he gorgeous Hotel Dangleterre for $272 a night.

Or the very respectable Copenhagen Admiral for $122.

Where'd the money go?

Who the hell cares? After all it is just someone else's money. Because it is the all powerful govt there is ALWAYS more where that money came from.

They should have made them sail/row, like the vikings did when they came over for a visit. I have heard that working on the hill makes you fat, cuz you don't get no exercise enough. Twas better for the environment as well.

Truer words were never spoken. I barked at my wife earlier and found out who calls the shots in my household.

Don't worry, my black eye will be gone before long.

The US gov is changing a few rules for student college loans. The terms of the loans are not to exceed 20 years vs the old 25 year standard. Our congress did research that found that parents are put off when they send their children to college while they are still paying off their own student loan. Very progressive

You JUST found out who calls the shots? Dude, welcome to sobriety - and matrimony.

I wanted to enjoy a life of celibacy, so I got married.

Were you aware that the average wedding ring weighs between 20 and 137 pounds?

That's more than the amount of snow they have in Vancouver...

No snow at Olympic site. It'll be one helluva muddy slide down hill...

Too bad it isn't held in Seattle, that would make for a good movie "Snowless in Seattle"

Danmed Global warming/cooling/climate change/coming ice age. Vewwy vewwy unpwedictabole. Or maybe it just didn't snow!

As for marital bliss, the desire for the marital bed seems to dissipate rapidly once they have satisfied the instinct to procreate. My experience is limited, but that is what I can tell you. If we could just date the same woman forever....

How many out-right lies were there??? The teleprompter lied repeatedly tonight. Even Justice Alito was disgusted.

Awesome? Yes. Sadly.

Favorite part was calling out super majority legislation and the political strategy of "if you fail, I win". Because those are the republicans unique purpose to this legislative cycle.

Obama's current domestic agenda failing is in your best interests. Just hope the Repubs keep it together, but don't hold your breath.

BTW, up until the recent election to fill Senator Kennedy's seat the Repubs could stop nothing the Dems wanted to do. So, like Obama, your side needs to look in the mirror instead of blaming the other side.

BTW#2. In general, a platform of the Republican party speaks to smaller govt. So, of course, they will gravitate towards solutions that do not grow the size of govt (Bush years notwithstanding).

My bottom line? Obama is not ready to be President. He's overwhelmed, under-prepared with ideas that have already been tried and failed worldwide and has surrounded himself with too many Rahm Emanuel types for his own good. I predict the 2010 mid-terms will cause him to make the same Centrist turn Clinton did after the 1994 elections. And if he doesn't, he will be a young ex-President after 2012.

all i hear from republicans is no, and or more of the same old stuff. we tried that already. that have not done jack or sh-it for people who are not like them.
i am not amused. there was a time when they would set the guillotine up in the town square and separate the wheat from the chaff. we thought that stuff was over too. world wide, no. reactionary bs is fear mongering and divisive.
'divide and conquer' the oldest trick in the book.

(1) At least as it relates to the Senate and it's cloture rules, this is not true. Majority rule is no longer the basis for passing legislation or otherwise conducting business in the US Senate. And both houses of Congress must agree before a bill is presented to the President for his signature.

(2) Obama is President of the United States, whether you like it or not. Frankly, it is the Congress that is doing this country a disservice. The President is neither King nor Dictator. He does not enact legislation. He implement and enforces. To the extent the legislative body has become Californized, our country will continue to struggle to address the problems confronting us. If you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem (that's not directed to you specifically).

(3) Obama will be re-elected by a substantial margin in 2012.

2 (continued) Congress has always done this. It was the sad fate of whomever got elected on either side of the aisle. I voted for him after Palin joined the Republican ticket.

3-Not likely. Public opinion will be formed at the last minute by the most insignificant of events. His only hope is that the voting public (note: not most screaming tea-party attenders, fortunately) and minorities will analyze the international nature of the US condition. No one could bail us out in one term. What are the odds of an informed electorate voting sensibly?

Just a side note-Jimmy Carter was a detached technician who, with Paul Volker; made all of us swallow the bitter pill that made for a real productive economy in later years. No conservative or liberal wants to acknowledge it but the pill has yet to be shown to us or swallowed.

All Rush Limbaugh talking points. Typical bull**** like the chicago thugs in Obama's theory.

To say Obama is unprepared to, and has failed to govern after what happened the previous 8 years under that moron.......

I liked Alito's body language and reaction. Unlike his more professional colleagues on the bench, as well as his military peers, he was unable to contain his political preference during the SotU address. Bottled up anger, bitterness, activism... who knows, but it all came out. I am glad he showed his true colors, for everyone to witness.

It was good to see that the GOPhers managed to keep their ranks quiet until Obama had spoken. They showed a great deal of respect for the office of the president that way.

Did anyone see that the future of the country is in the hands of 95% old white men, with wrinkly skin, sagging eyelids and cheeks drooped into jowls... They must be very connected to reality, a joyous thought.

I didn't understand how Obama was going to double US export in the next 5 years, especially since the US has been unable to produce more than 10,000 jobs per year over the last decade. Is he going to resell the Chinese their exports to the US with some added value?

They control US money supply and US production, so how that's going to be turned around, is a riddle to me. Ironic when you think about it. They make you borrow more, to buy from them...

Any perceived bipartisanship to pull this ship from the muddy banks?
-Many congressmen seemed to support his plans for expansion of nuclear energy plants?
-tax cuts for small businesses?
-pay as you go law?
-?

And in your (and Obama's) very next breath you will attack the Republicans for not wanting to work with your side.

News Flash: Bush is no longer President. At some point your side will be responsible for their results, or lack thereof.

Newsflash: Your ideological theory for governing is tried and tested as FAILURE. You have no business criticizing the left while your heroes in the Senate work to obstruct legislation.

This one really piqued my interest. The key word that he wasted no time in mentioning was agriculture. It is a fact this country produces far more agriculturally than we can consume. (proof=fat) There are many countries that need to import as they cannot produce up to their needs. The problems associated with that is the cost of transport, and disparity in value of currency. This would be a great problem to solve and might contribute to the export problem.

Most sitting Presidents have enough class not to attack the Supreme Court in the SoU speech. It has not happened (according to reports) since FDR.

Even wrinkly old white guys don't appreciate the lies being told about them (read the decision. It specifically keeps in place restrictions on foreign Corporate campaign contributions. Obama knows this but needs a good red-meat issue to thow to the leftist base, even though it's a lie).
