As the U.S.A. is my adopted country, and I chose to become one of its citizens, I am not nearly as alarmed with Obama and his actions as POTUS as I am with the TEA "party". The TEA party, from what I have observed through in person run-ins and what is shown in various media, are a hair away from morphing into the Klan.

I really do fear for a country that lets racial hatred and discrimination decide their political and social agenda; this is precisely why I emigrated from R.S.A.

Sad, indeed.

Oh, come on. They are not racists. They just don't like black communist muslims who were not born in this country.

Where did you run into the Tea party at? They do not run anything so do not worry with their agenda.

It was a Tea Party Express "rally" last October, Griffith Park (Los Angeles), about 400-500 people. I'm surprised that many showed. I was waiting to see the white robes appear... Sarah Palin and her minions make too much noise while lacking too much information. She and her ilk are unarmed, as far as intelligence goes.

Sarah Palin opens her big fat mouth again.

The latest Teabagathon just kicked off in Searchlight Nevada (pop. 800) attracting people like this with no sense of irony at all.
"If you watch the mainstream media, you'd think we're some kind of whack jobs, some sort of racist people," said Wendy Cappas, 61, of Las Vegas, toting a homemade sign that read, "Obama-Scare: Socialized Medicine Guaranteed to Kill You." "To come here and see how many people think like we do, how unified we all are, it's just a wonderful, wonderful feeling

Pretty easy to tell when the bleating Obama-ites are worried about the emperor's new clothes.

My apologies alberto.legstrong, but I'm unable to decipher your point. Are you on the "winning" side? If so, what side is that? If not, are you bragging or complaining?

I think the point is that the so called conservatives don't want anyone to mention that the Tea Party is peopled with racists who were perfectly happy with the unrestrained, unfunded spending of Bush but have suddenly discovered that the spending done by a scary black man to stimulate the economy destroyed by the previous president is the beginning of the Fourth Reich. Evidently everyone is supposed to ignore the Teabaggers' signs and the crackpot neighbors who try to talk them into attending their thinly disguised Klan rallies.

I love the Lenin + Stalin & Hitler + Castro sign. This person is clearly just trying to think of all the people they've been taught to fear the most, not realizing that combining the political ideologies of all those men would create something a little bit left of center, which is I guess pretty spot on as far as Obama is concerned.

Or maybe they're suggesting that Obama is also a genocide proponent or war monger.

I'm amazed that the right is actively courting this kind of thing.

The funny thing is that it is often forgotten in America, and these folks haven't even a modicum of culture to comprehend it, that, in the XIX century, modern democratic institutions were based upon ideas elaborated initially by marxism and by the social-democratic movement in its original revolutionary form that placed the collective before individual appetites.

The America that these idiots represent is based upon a tyrannous abolition of individual rights, and, with no regard for the collective society whatsoever, has a confused idea about the significance of the terms "democracy" and "fascism," the latter being perfectly in tune with the oppressive nature of their world view.

Is it even remotely possible that there are crazies on the fringes of both political parties? These photos are real clever and all, but have you guys seen the protests at the WTO meetings? How about the SEIU beatdown of a guy selling flags at a healthcare townhall last summer? Some dude was arrested for threatening to kill Eric Cantor and his entire family.

Regular use of the term 'teabagger' will certainly promote appreciation and understanding.

When I was finishing my Masters degree in Boulder, Co., the Seattle WTO riots were going on, and I was dfrom Seattle, so I inquired among my fellow classmates who had gone there what happened, and they gave the routine accounts of spoiled children whose trust funds allowed them the time and money to travel there. I then started to research ELF (Earth Liberation Front) and discovered the same people belonged to that terrorist organization There was something about the trust fund babies in Boulder then, and I am aware now as well, they adhere to ultra violent leftist rhetoric that is until they are actuially called to lift a pinky finger to actually do something. SoCal, I think your assessment is right. The ultra extremes are of the same ilk. I recall in Lefitst liberal Boulder a conspicuous lack of any meaningful representation of any minorities.

I agree with you that there are crazies on both sides and I find their behaviour reprehensible.
But I find the nuts on the right to be more troubling.

The talking points have gone out to the Teabaggers and the Republicans to portray the racists as a small fringe of extremists and to draw parallels between the extremists on both sides, but anyone who has been around the Teabaggers knows that racism is not confined to a just few. Crackpot and racist views are held by a large percentage of them.

All you have to do is show empathy for their complaints and they will give you an earful. It's even more illuminating when they put you in their email contacts so that you get the racist crap they circulate amongst their friends.

This guy is not on the fringe. He is the founder of the Tea Party and runs one of their major donor websites.

Just for the record, I'm not particularly impressed with the tea party(ers?).

I don't believe the highlighed sentence so if you have sources I would like to see them.

From what I've heard there are alot more than just Republicans at tea party events as the Soros wing of the party has alienated huge numbers of moderate Dems.

It's just so convenient to paint the opposing view as racist/homophobe/mean-spirited, etc. Stifle debate and marginalize your political opponent so opposing views are not heard or tolerated. It's Alinsky 101.

My sources are talking to these people. They are nuts. At least half of them buy into the new world order conspiracy nonsense.

You'll have to excuse me if I remain skeptical of the idea that most of the tea party-ers are racists.

Well, there's a fair amount of evidence about Lance. I've got a couple of photos and an anonymous guy's second hand knowledge regarding the other.
