Worst team of a GT winner

Because of the thread about the strongest GT teams made me think about this: Which GT winner had the worst team by his side. Kruijswijk's team was not very good and it cost him today. Others have done it though.

Main line ups I though off were the squads Savoldelli won the Giro with.

2001 Index - Alexia Alluminio: Savoldelli, Lanfranchi, Hamburger, Righi, Manzoni, Andriotto, Serri, Zinetti and Quaranta. Especially cause these guys were more busy waiting for Quaranta than supporting Savoldelli. (Riders in italic abandoned)

2005 Discovery Channel: Savoldelli, Barry, Hesjedal, Bileka, Padrnos, Danielson, Cruz, Mccartney, Joachim.

Can't really recall other awful winning teams from my head.

Seems to me that Popovych and Kiserlovski in particular were a good help for him. The croatian was able to stay for long time with favourites back then.

Contador, 2011 Giro I think
Tosatto, Morkov, Porte, Klostergaard, Navarro, Hernandez, Didier, Gusov. He was always isolated whenever the road went upwards. Only Toso was a useful domestique.
Considering how great a dom Dani Navarro was in previous years for Alberto, he was really anonymous that year. Was it 2009 or 2010, where Dani dropped everyone but Alberto and Andy on some occasions?

Col de la Madeleine 2010.

Roche when he won the Giro with half his team riding against him. It's one thing to have a bad team, but it's even worse to have a good team playing against you!

Technically was him riding against the team, that year the leader of the team was Visentini

Simoni came close to beating up Cunego in 2004, in a similar situation.

Best I recall, Hesjedal's team in that Giro was pretty invisible. Most of the Giro Puritos team did pace setting.

Without such a massive work that Vandevelde did on Stelvio stage, Hesjedal most likely would not have won that race.

Stetina was a big help to Hesjedal too. He finished 27th and Vande Velde 22nd on GC which are where you might expect decent mountain domestiques to be placed.

A team should always support its strongest rider, don't you think?
