Haha, good point. Though I'm not sure "Watch Olympic Road Race. Watch Olympic Road Race" would have been quite enough context to explain why I was saying that!

Yeah, to the cycling fan your version is better.

If we were advising Bailsford how to approach this classics gig though, WORR, WORR, would be the way to go.

What do you think about it? Keep in mind that only 8 guys will start.

I don't know. That's why I asked. I only know Kangert can TT pretty well. :p

meh... Not enough firepower to top 5, perhaps on a good day top 10

Ahh. Shame. Was hoping decent GC place for Kangert. :)

Thanks for the answer.

It was reported along with the extension of Kessiakoffs contract that they have agreed that his allergies that hit during the spring season means that Kessiakoff will not have any focus in the spring part of the season but will instead have a focus on the second half of the year with the Tour and Vuelta rather than the Giro.

I am still at loss of words how Fuglsang got to be the GC man for Astana in the tour

At least now when he fails to live up to all the hype (that he created over himself) he won't have anything or anyone to blame it on but himself.

Looks like Brajko won't be one of Astana's leaders for the Tour. It's just Fuglsang anymore.

This is the biggest joke ever. It's embarrassing for both Fuglsang and the team, Fuglsang is no GC man in grand tours, also his climbing is way overrated. And the 2012 parcours would at least have suited him with the TT's, next year's is too demanding. But maybe it's Vino's decision, then it's understandable. In 2011 Vino was Astana's GC rider, that's about as stupid as making Fuglsang leader.

Do not think they will take the tour seriously next year. Rather go for stages with Gaspa etc and let Fuglsang just hang in there for as long as possible

Vino had the goal to get the leaders jersey last year, not content for a top 10 in the gc (thats why he used so much energy in the first week to attack just to get a few sec)

Both Gasparotto and Fuglsang won't do anything in the Tour. Gaspa is worse than Sagan/Boasson Hagen in the first week, and in breaks he's likely to be isolated as a sprinter. Fuglsang is probably for place 30-50 in GC and place 5-15 in breakaways. Only Kessiakoff could do something, but he's very limited too. They'd better come up with a decent solution to this problem.

What do you think Vino would've done if he eventually got the yellow jersey btw? He'd still have gone for GC, as they had no other rider capable of doing it.

From the Guardini article currently on the front page
Guardini could instead line up at the Tour de France for the first time, with designs on the race’s opening yellow jersey in Corsica.

If Guardini goes to the tour I think Astana's main goal will be mostly going for stages and just bringing Fugslang along to see how long he can hang in there. No matter what they will bring some guys that can win stage rather than a team built entirely around supporting Fugslang.

Gasparotto will be the strongest in the hills in every breakaway he is in (except if EBH is there) so he does not need to sprint to win, Grivko is a guy for the breakaway. If Fuglsang gets in his top shape he can be lucky in a breakaway, Guardini can do a very decent sprint. I am not that pessimistic. (and do not forget Iglinsky either, even though if he wins LBL next year he will probably party the rest of the year like this year rofl)

If i remember correctly, he was actully stating that he wanted to be in the yellow jearsey once, and on the podium. Top 3, like in 2003. But admited it would be hard with Contador as a challenger, but he would try.

EDIT
Fuglsang says he wants a top 10 in the tour:

He said so just to make the fans (me) happy:p
Highly doubt he could be serious about it.

Self promoted and its not like any other rider is stepping up on that team.
