They aren't. Vanendert did much better than most of these Spaniards combined last 2 years. It's not because they have big names that they all of a sudden will improve on the hills of Limburg.

How can his performances in the last 2 years be rated above Purito's?

Edit: Nevermind. I'm think of the hilly classics combined not just AGR.

Maxim told how in the very last kilometers of the race he made it in the break with Joaquim Rodriguez. Katyusha rider asked him to hold his tempo down a little and race for the 2nd and 3d places (at the moment they only one ahead of them was Nibali from "Liquigas"). While Maxim was just about to ask Rodriguez the same, he understood that this was a moment of weakness and remembering Vinokourov's advices (Alexandre called him personally this very same morning) attacked.

The attack was successful and Spanish rider was dropped. Then Maxim raced as fast as he could to protect his 2nd place as he thought at the moment, but he managed to do much more -- he caught up to race leader, Nibali. When Nibali looked back and saw Iglinsky coming up, Maxim saw shock in his eyes and felt that he is breakable.

this is epic!!

is this big in kazachstan him winning lbl? :)
Not really. The conference also wasn't really all that big. Just a couple of TV guys, us astanafans site people and national federation officials and trainers.

It was very low key event, but hey -- i had fun and added yet another "cycling celebrity standing by me while i look awkardly" photo (i already got Vino, Contador and Max back from 2010, and now i have a second pic with him :D).

Also got some nice personally signed swag. :D

this is epic!!
I know right?

OK, that's pretty dumb from Purito, TBH. The VINO reference is pretty epic though, that's right.

A Tiralongo in top shape is a top 10 candidate no question about it, but he probably will be Kreuziger's super duper mega domestique
