Race 15 Dwars door Vlaanderen
A race that might be more relevant in the game for the points that will not be won after it than for those won in it.

Standings
Only one team still waiting to get a top ten, so I'll put up the entire table for a change.
Josedin, despite not having a win, has been top for a while, but no longer. Vladimir and TRiley both have two wins, but so have Slow Climber and Devil's Elbow, so there is more consistency needed than just the occasional win.

Overall
A unique pick as race winner means the TRiley breaks up that top four, while Madrazo and Leadbelly get into the top ten, which means that I could be bothered to use the tiebreaker criteria (least reliance on top scorer)

We're probably all thinking more of Sunday's race, but the GP Miguel Indurain is on Saturday, although it will probably contribute very little here. More for the Green rankings than the Overall, I suspect.

Benoit Cosnefroy why are you winning 1.1 races rather than winning me points in this?? Get your priorities straight

I also had a cheap unique pick Alec Segaert win a 1.1 race earlier. But I suspect others have had similar situations

With poor Stuyven breaking his collar bone and my team being very slow climbers for the Ardennes, I'm going to make the most of gazing at the table over the next few days, before I slip down the charts

Green points
JBV had been the only team without any points in this classification until today, but leaps past 7 other teams on the first showing. Josedin, meanwhile, seems to have made something of a speciality of picking up lots of green points on the races that don't contribute much to the overall scores, which is proving a successful strategy (if such it was)

Race 18 Scheldeprijs that means we're three quarters of the way through

If this is the unofficial World Sprint Championship, then we mainly found world championship level sprinters too expensive to pick. But some scorers were selected:

Brabantse Pijl (what is it anyway: slightly cobbled? Ardennes warm-up? The fourth member of the Ardennes triptych but not in the Ardennes?) on Wednesday is the 20th in our series.

Race 20 Brabantse Pijl
Will this be remembered for Cosnefroy finally getting this race, or Blackmore announcing that he is not just for minor events?

Devil's Elbow gets his third top place, but still can't shift Josedin from the top, and other gaps are not insurmountable. Sussannna is in the top ten, and still has MvdP lined up as a major favourite in 2 events.

So the last of the cobbles have been traversed: the 3 races of Ardennes week follow, and then the slight possibility of Frankfurt providing a final twist.

Some bad decisions in hindsight :p Hopefully Teuns can grab some more points in Amstel and the Ardennes.
Van Eetvelt was another trump card, unfortunately out for these races.

The different riders for this final subset of races might have begun to come to the fore: further movement in these directions to follow, or are Belgian Ardennes different from Dutch ones?

It is nice to be sitting on the top.
Armchair, thank you for your hard work and inciteful commentary.
Three more races, nowhere to go but down so my fingers are crossed I can hang on . Come on Pidcock and Teuns with a little help from my friends Naberman ,Herzog, et al.

sorry it's so late

Race 22 Fleche Wallonne
Part of the delay has been trying to verify which Lotto Dstny rider came 41st. Usually I go by CQ, but their contention that it was Berckmoes, while shared by First Cycling (@LosBrolin: do you want to have a check on that), is at odds with the race organisers' and the UCI WT pages. So, with sympathy for Bminchow and Scrool who may have been hoping for a five point bonus here, I have gone with the more authoritative sources.

The 5 pointer deserved a name check in that race, I reckon, for making it to the line. That there was only one makes it easier.

Standings

Green
With two events remaining, any of the top 6 theoretically could still win this. But in reality it looks like just two contenders, as Josedin regains top spot.

Overall

Neither of the top two scored on Wednesday, but the next three all have Cosnefroy (which was unfortunate for the teams in the top ten that they supplanted)

LBL tends not to be a very high scoring race, as big points are often taken by GC type riders that few managers here invest in. It might take something of a surprise result for anyone to close the gap to Blues in the Bottle, but the podium battle is very much alive.

Hope to respond more quickly after LBL

I took Van Eetvelt with a hope of a good Ardennes campaign and he got knee problems and stopped racing after SB.
I took Tratnik and he injured his knee in GW and didn't race for the rest of the spring.
I took Van Baarle for cobbled classics and he got ill in a critical moment and never showed up with any form.
I took Capiot and he seems to have crashed in Dwars door Vlaanderen and didn't race for the rest of the spring.
I took Bettiol and he cramped out of a likely DdV podium and a possible win, then lost a RvV podium in the last 150 meters of the race and then apparently fell ill and missed PR.

That's a lot of misfortune to happen to a just 12 rider team in a span of just 2 months. And yet, I'm still somehow 11th out of 35 players.
