    2018 Innsbruck World Championship Men's Road Race - 259km

Re: Re: That’s fair. My thinking was that it would have been unwise for Valverde to ride hard at the front to prevent Dumoulin from joining. His best move imo was to slow down somewhat and rest for the sprint. Even if a bunch of other riders came back he’d still have the best sprint.

    2018 Innsbruck World Championship Men's Road Race - 259km

Was anyone else listening to the uci commentary? I found it somewhat annoying that they kept talking about Dumoulin. Why would Valverde have been afraid of letting Tom, who was riding full gas and doesn’t have a great sprint, into the finale?

    2018 Innsbruck World Championship Men's Road Race - 259km

Very happy for Rusty. He gave his best. Congrats to Bala. Would’ve liked to have seen more aggression in this race overall, but it was a great finale.

    2018 Innsbruck World Championship Men's Road Race - 259km

Re: You make a strong point, but are we sure you need a good one day pedigree to win a mountainous worlds? Let’s look at past tough olympics/worlds in recent years: Duitama: Olano won a national RR, not much else in one day races Beijing: Strong performances in many classics Mendrisio: Evans...

Hoping for Rusty, but I’ll pick Simon Yates.

    World Championships Innsbruck 2018

Of the major favourites, who would benefit most from “bad” (cold and/or rainy conditions)? Also, does anyone have any opinion on Dumoulin’s prospects? He’s shown that he can do well on muritos and he can obviously solo.

    75. Tour de Pologne, 4-10 August (2.UWT)

Re: This profile is laughably bad. It looks as though the road barely rises in the final km when in reality it’s close to an 11% grade.

    Rate Tour De France 2018

I gave it a 6. I enjoyed the cobbles, Alpe, the short stage, Froome getting dropped, and competitive sprint stages. I also thoroughly enjoyed Bala’s aggressiveness on the first mountain stage was nice. Quintana’s win was great but it felt empty. Overall, this tour just seems dissatisfying. I...

    Arnaud Démare discussion thread

So it appears Demare lost roughly 10 minutes on the final climb. So Demare was riding at roughly (just under, actually) 5 w/kg. That’s entirely reasonable for a world class rider. https://mobile.twitter.com/velofacts/status/1022204078066163714

    Arnaud Démare discussion thread

Demare is a professional. He knows his body and his FTP. If you ride tempo on a climb like that, you can easily lose 15 minutes, but you lessen the risk of cracking. If a rider knows they will get dropped amyways, then there’s no point in burying themselves to simply hold on to the peloton.

The Gianni Moscon Bandwagon Jumping Thread

It truly is sad to watch someone with so much potential waste it all simply because they can’t be a decent person. Terrible.

    Le Tour 2018 stage 16:Carcassonne - Bagnères-de-Luchon 218km

Breakaway day. Alaphilippe vs Barguil for the KOM. Sagan to attack because his green jersey lead isn’t yet secure :P
