I don't have sufficient knowledge to counter argument this point with evidences, but I've always had the feeling that being that old and having results in cycling is pretty common. Might be wrong...
He's having a great year but nothing surprising that a rider reaches his peak at this age tbf.
He had several top(or nearly)10 in classics/semi-classics if you check since 2017: MSR, Ronde, Brabantse, Omloop, KBK etc..
Colbrelli is far from a stranger in the peloton, he's very talented and has always proven to be quite a complete rider (fast, powerful, can climb short climbs, can sprint very well in small/medium groups).
Such a heartwarming emotion from a deserving and quality rider. Gutted for VDP but he has plenty of time to win one or several PR. Impressive race from Vermersch as well!
Let's say, clean or not, that he's not really improving cycling image in my very personal opinion at least. Last Tour was almost fun but enough already
