Team Ineos (Formerly the Sky thread)

I fundamentally disagree that there is large volume of empirical evidence against Frome (in strong contrast to other riders in the past). All arguments that I have seen are grounded in an extrapolation of what has happened in the past to provide an explanation of the present. While I agree there...

Study: No Evidence for Superior Time Trial Performances in the “Epo Era”

The data doesn't appear to show any discontinuous change in TT speeds of any sort over the entire period under consideration 1933-2013.

Study: No Evidence for Superior Time Trial Performances in the “Epo Era”

The rapidity with which EPO came in to use would be exactly why I would have thought it would be straightforward to separate its effects from general technological progress. My prior assumptions would be that technological progress leads to the general upward trend in times observed, and...

    World Politics

The whole problem with the debate over independence is this colouring of the waters with policy matters. A future Scottish government could easily change tack on this issue if they felt the benefits of retaining Trident exceeded the costs - voting yes does not imply a binding commitment on this...

Is any rider able to challenge Contador in his peak form at the 2015 Tour De France?

I think you can rest assured that if anyone does challenge, the argument will be made that he is not in peak form.

Teams & Riders Froome Talk Only

I would be shocked if anyone thought his victory salute was anything other than embarrassing. Perhaps if he turned round, as someone suggested in the past...

    Pulling a Wiggins

I don't agree with that. He beat Westra by a very small margin in Paris Nice, and the course for 2012 Romandie so biased towards the ITTs that you would probably expect the same result if it happened this year. The true domination appeared from the Dauphine onwards.

    Pulling a Wiggins

Evans managed a broadly comparable set of results the year beforehand. TA, Romandie, a podium in the Dauphine, and then the Tour.

    Fernando Alonso buys Euskaltel's license

It's not good because it's rude, it's good because it looks like it's good because it's rude.

2013 Road World Championships: Men's Road Race, Lucca-Firenze 272.2 km

A reference to SW9 no doubt, as difficult as it may be to imagine Pozzato taking up temporary residence in a Coldharbour Lane bedsit.

Newsflash. Brian Cookson, british cycling, to stand against Pat McQuaid (SUI) for uci

It's also a phrase used commonly used in Shoreditch to stress confidence in an uncertain future outcome.

    "clean", "suspect", "miraculous" and "mutants"

Of course there is such a thing as 7 standard deviations from the mean in a normal distribution.

    What will it take?

If cycling was clean, why would the teams hand their riders over to the federations?

Teams & Riders Chris Froome Discussion Thread.

I can empathise with that - there isn't much to recommend it. By sheer coincidence, I have rather dissatisfactory memory of an Oasis concert in 2000, during which my aural experience was dominated by racist chants performed by a group of Saints supporters immediately behind me. I should have...
