    Giro d'Italia 2022 Giro d'Italia, Stage 3: Kaposvár – Balatonfüred 201 km (Sunday, May 8th)

Jakub Mareczko must be the fastest useless sprinter I've ever seen. Again, he practically free-wheeled (and was forced to stop pedalling at least twice) past most of the people driving hard for the line. Ridiculously fast. But also a guy who eternally remains completely unable to hold a...

Question Should Wout van Aert have waited at the top of Mont Ventoux???

Yeah, this is exactly why I wrote in the OP that they would have needed to sell the stage to Trekkers for co-operation... Btw, I measured the exact time differences at the KoM Line WvA 0:00 Treks +1:11 Vingo +1:25 Pogi + 2:03 Carapaz&Uran + 2:07 The full-fledged hammer-down collective effort...

Question Should Wout van Aert have waited at the top of Mont Ventoux???

I can understand both sides of an argument, but Jumbo-Visma definitely lost a nice chance to make some serious GC damage by letting Wout to descend for a stage victory. If he was stopped at the top (right after taking the mountain points), waited for Vingegaard, then pulled him back to...

    Giro d'Italia 2020, stage 18: Pinzolo - Laghi di Cancano 207 km

And reminder to everyone - Giro time gaps are complete BS. I have occasionally timed the real difference on XX km to go markers. They are regularly 10-15 secs off, but at times even almost full minute off... The GPS does not give a difference at some point of a race but extrapolates the speed...

    Giro d'Italia 2020, stage 18: Pinzolo - Laghi di Cancano 207 km

Absolutely magnificent helper-rides. Dennis out of this planet, but also Domen Novak is really putting it into line.

Teams & Riders Vincenzo Nibali discussion thread

One thing we must remember when we move to the 3rd week is that the route has not yet gone high at any point. Yes, there has been some tough slopes to tackle but come Thursday & Saturday, the air will be 1000 meters thinner to breathe and these young guns have no form to speak of about going on...

    2018 Giro d'Italia - STAGE 10: Penne – Gualdo Tadino 239 km

GPS works in a steady, long flat/ascension/descent/whatever, but is useless in this kind of a rolling terrain.

    2018 Giro d'Italia - STAGE 10: Penne – Gualdo Tadino 239 km

Re: ABSOLUTAMENTE! Doesn't GPS basically measure how long it will take from group behind to reach the point where group ahead is at a moment - IF going on steady speed. Thus everytime peloton hits an uphill, the gps is frantically deducting seconds and contra-effect on peloton getting to...

    2018 Giro d'Italia - STAGE 10: Penne – Gualdo Tadino 239 km

Re: 2018 Giro d'Italia - STAGE 10: Penne – Gualdo Tadino 239 Peloton never had 3 minutes on Chavez (I think it maxed at about 2 min 40 s). Those 3+ minute gaps were measured from a then-still-existing breakaway.

    2018 Giro d'Italia - STAGE 10: Penne – Gualdo Tadino 239 km

Re: Re: Could it be that you saw Gruppo Chavito? And Morkov is pulling Viviani to bring him back to the peloton? As now someone says that QS is helpinz Chavez to get back???

    2018 Giro d'Italia - STAGE 10: Penne – Gualdo Tadino 239 km

I have not yet seen the race so obviously a mistake (a persistent one) of Giro ticker.

    2018 Giro d'Italia - STAGE 10: Penne – Gualdo Tadino 239 km

Other news from official Giro ticker : - Viviani & Mientjes also with Chavez. - Rafa Valls (Movistar, GC # 26) has thrown in the towel. One major helper out for Carapaz. (with Viviani out of it, some of the sprinter teams have an added incentive to prevent breakaway from winning AND not...

    2018 Giro d'Italia stage 7: Pizzo – Praia a Mare 159 km

Morkov lost that one for Viviani. He had a position to prevent Bennett from getting Elia's backwheel, but relented to more determined rider. ....I'm not saying it was bad decision in a wider picture. Bennett wasn't to let up so it could have ended in a pile-up if Michael didn't budge...
