Well, Deignan was already the first rider to have continued to race - at least on top-level - after giving birth twice. Though Barker is about to follow in those footsteps.

She's the first to have been paid throughout her pregnancies. Denise Betsema also has two children, but she had them before she reached the top level in CX. Right now I can only think of riders who has one child, but I believe I have heard about some that have had two.

Rafal Majka (UAE Emirates) will retire at the end of the season. Turning pro in 2011, the Pole (35 years old) won 3 stages and 2 polka dot jerseys in the Tour de France. 3rd in the Vuelta 2015, he had transitioned to a domestique role - notably alongside Pogacar - in recent seasons.

not that old considering hes been around forever, basically with the same high level since he started out

Louis Kitzki (21, Alpecin Devo) will not continue his cycling career. He lost the joy in it after the fatal accident of André Drege in the Tour of Austria last year already, and "became increasingly concerned about [...] safety and [felt] increasingly uncomfortable in races".
Now, after being around again when Samuele Privitera died in the Giro Ciclistico della Valle d'Aosta, he decided to stop completely.

That's a moving retirement statement. Never thought about the visa issues some riders have on top of the other demands of their profession.

Former pro Peio Arreitunandia passed away due to an undisclosed kind of cancer. He was only 51. Some weeks ago Ludo Dierckxsens also passed away. Think he was 60. Quite unsettling to see riders you grew up watching on TV lose their lives at relatively early ages.

I remember from PCM that he rode for Barloworld at the end if his career, but at that time I didn't know he had been at Euskaltel previously.

I wondered a few times in the last 2-3 years what was going on with him. He seemed like a carismatic, exicting rider when he broke through in 2021.
