That really exorcised the ghost of last year's race.

Both from an entertainment perspective for us as fans, and from Valverde's perspective after not doing it from a "wait, wait, come 2nd" approach as he has done so many times in the past on the big occasions.

Not a great race by any stretch of the imagination, nothing like as good as 2010 or 2012, but a damn sight better than 2011 or 2014.

You didn't think it was entertaining how gilbert rekt the schlecks? Was pretty hilarious.

Well deserved from piti, no one can deny his talent. Other teams rode dumb like usual.

dan and/or gerrans crash, astan a try something, katusha have lots of riders but valverde will still win, he looked really strong more needed to be done to expose him.

Exceptional from Meintjes and ALaphillippe

Alaphilippe deserves a TdF spot
Possibly. Think I'd prefer the Vuelta for him, keep him racing while he's in form atm, then give him a break, come back for San Sebastián, the Trittico Lombarda and the Vuelta ahead of the Worlds. Sure it's not this hilly, but with his CX background surely his handling skills will be beneficial on a course like this year's.

That Alaphillipe continues to impress! We'll see a lot more of that young man.

The worst spring classics season in recent history. Absolutely none really good races.

Isn't TVV on the Worlds weekend this year?

He didn't wreck the Schlecks, though I'm sure he would have done if he had to. They just rode like they knew they were beaten and just followed him home.

Great race by Valverde. Incredibly smart racing by him.

Yes, perfect timing. Chase down Moreno any earlier and he just gets attacked again. Any later and Moreno can't be caught. Valverde was the strongest against a group that did him no favours. Superb win.

What a ride by Bala, amazing.

Rui Costa 4th :)
A typical Rui Costa race of knowing you aren't going to win a sprint, sprinting anyway, and finishing 4th. Must be some kind of record in 4th places now

Oh well Valverde deserved this one: smart enough to force the pace on Saint Nicholas (goodbye Kwiatko, Nibali and some others) and then played it to perfection against Katusha.

Surprised by Rui Costa, he looked to be struggling all the way since Saint Nicholas! Best ever Ardennes campaign for him and he showed some aggression. Maybe one day he can win...

Yeah the Ardennes are always bad but Ronde and Roubaix were disappointing too.
And two wins for Piti, doesn't get much worse, does it?

He did at the saint-nicolas, could have kept going if he wanted to.
