Katusha made him chase but he still won the sprint. A well deserved win for Valverde, love him or hate him, he did very well to win that.

Valverde is a personification of a seasoned rider.
It wasn't a bad finale at all.

Very disappointing last 35-40 km. And no, what happened in the ~40 km before that doesn't make up for it.

Lots of riders racing for nothing again, when Astana had served them a perfect opportunity on a silver platter.

That really exorcised the ghost of last year's race.

Both from an entertainment perspective for us as fans, and from Valverde's perspective after not doing it from a "wait, wait, come 2nd" approach as he has done so many times in the past on the big occasions.

Not a great race by any stretch of the imagination, nothing like as good as 2010 or 2012, but a damn sight better than 2011 or 2014.
