Tactical struggle in the third group.
The leaders don't want to reset the race. They'd rather bridge from a committed attack.

I mean, its a suboptimal situation but do we really beieve MvdP and Pog cannot bridge on their own if they must?
If they keep it within 20-25 seconds until the kwaremont I think they can. If the gap is larger as it is now, I think it might be quite difficult.

Thing is that quite a few of the riders might stop working in Group2. But guys like Pedersen, Bettiol etc. Are no joke. ;)

Gaps just aren’t big enough to rule out the freaks yet, unfortunately. VDP and Pog both still capable of just riding across.

Bahrain is a major disappointment. I thought they would be on to such moves.

the big names (mainly pog, then mvdp, asgreen, pidcock to follow) are going to have to go over the kwaremont....join the other favourites group and then assess

Typical race when one guy is the massive favourite. Almost one minute behind guys like pedersen or lampaerts

Yeah, peleton have messed this up if MVDP or Pogacar don't make a superhuman move to close it on a climb. I get it if this were a 4 men breakaway that you can give a bit of room but when G1 and G2 come together you have 20+ guys in front with multiple teams having two riders in it. Incredible hard to keep such a large group in check even if UAE and AG2R get a couple of guys back in the peleton.

It's a weird race. The gap from the 2nd group to the peloton isn't blowing out yet despite the slow pace. It's as if everyone's been waiting for VDP to fire the starter's gun.
