I don't think the race isn't open still, unless a perfect group goes after Redoute and nobody chases somehow.

The problem is very similar to attacking before Mur de Huy. If you anticipate an attack the hills are still so big you need at least 30s+ before the start of RaF

So UAE won't have Pogacar, but they won't bring Formolo to this one, almost as great as when they had him skip Lombardia in 2020 to race the Dauphine...

North eastern wind predicted tomorrow. So that should be head to head/cross in the final I think.

Actually looks more like crosswind until the RaF mainly with some slight cross/tail and a block headwind in the final kms.

Obviously it's disappointing that Pog doesn't start. Even if his form was declining he would still be an important figure in the race given his offensive mindset. I would say WVA has a good chance to win but a lot can happen in this race.

It will change the race for sure, but to be honest, at this moment i didn't have him pegged as the big favorite anymore. He's been on form since UAE and a good Pogacar would always have podiumed in Huy, imho. I think he would still have been a contender, but not the Pogacar that was going to drop anybody and everybody when and where he pleased. Could be that made his decision not to ride a bit easier.
I'm not so sure a good Pog would necessarily podium FW. He never has yet. Three efforts and his best result is 9th.
I'm not convinced the Mur de Huy, in that race, suits him as much as it does other riders.

You can say that for a lot of guys for 2020 Lombardia.
Yeah, but speaking of this year besides Hirschi Uae don't have too many options. McNulty hasn't raced since Paris-Nice because he got sick afterwards. Formolo was really strong on the final stage in Euskadi.

Controversial take: Wout is more likely to drop the rest on RaF (or rather the uphill section after the RaF) than getting dropped.

In fact, he should attack to avoid a more tactical scenario on the flats.
