But Big George isn't suppose to win. It would go against everything he's worked for in his career. He's the Dan Marino of the Spring Classics.

That's why I'll have also have no problem being totally psyched if Thor crosses the line first in his Rainbow Jersey! (especially if it's covered in mud, dirt, dust, whatever) :D

I can see these teams each sending their most promising domestiques in a move in order to force Leopard to do the work for the Boonen/Flecha/Hushovd/Pippo group. Which could be a disaster if Leopard's "work" involves Cancellara riding away from everyone, but I don't think that's going to happen this year.

Yeah I was thinking this. Just something to make Leopard work.

Consider this an official warning

spartacus-movie-image-2.jpg

“I am the only man in the world who can make an attack like the one in Flanders, or in Roubaix in 2010. Everybody knows that if I’m at 100 percent they have to fasten their seatbelts, like on an aeroplane.”

“This Bufalino who has written the book on the doped bike, I’d liked to pin him to the wall. If he introduced himself to me, I’d have to ask him two things – why is he doing all of this and whether he can see well.”

He does know Spartacus lost in the end right?

i was sure about it.one of the causes of fabian's failure was way too much self-confidence.there was no special tactics,he attacked when he wanted just because he felt god-like.

now he's full of rage.big time.he will write some history sunday.i think it will be something even crazier than last year.i think he's so piszed off that he will attack on arenberg.this guy can make a 60-70 km itt and win roubaix with 5 minute.here the regroupings are impossible.

expect something special sunday.

did you guys see the article on the CN front page?

“I’m very happy: there were fifty of them behind a gladiator,” Cancellara continued. “It was a spectacle and a double satisfaction: I lost by trying to win, the others rode only to make me lose. And in the end the one who was always in the wheels won. Congratulations to Nuyens, but for me [winning] like that has no value.”

I love Cancellara now even more. I want to have his adopted babies even.

But do you honestly believe that?

Today I realized Cancellara is the biggest talent in the peloton behind Contador. Too bad he also takes the idiot prize.
Luckily for him, there's not much tactic involved in Roubaix.

Honestly the comment strikes me as undignified and whiny. He lost and he should take it like a man, not complain about the winner or the other riders in the race.

Meh. Isn't calling him an idiot just another way of saying he has balls the size of a pineapple? ;)

I would much rather watch a stupid cyclist take risks than a smart cyclist hide in the bunch and take advantage of other people riding in the wind anyway.

Cancellara is right. We don't watch races for guys like Nuyens. If there's only Nuyenses in the peloton nothing happens until the finish line. Chapeau Fabian, for telling it like it is. I hope you crush them all in Roubaix. Unfortunately not Nuyens, he won't be there.

I always loved riders like Cancellara, who want not just to win, but to win with greatness.

Ricco was the same, but too bad he was also a blithering idiot in the end.

I'm more of an Indurain/Contador type of guy :D
The silent types that let their legs do the talking. + Indurain just had something mysterious about him.

Gilbert can be pretty arrogant at times, but no where near Cancellara's level, so he's ok too. Boonen is just Boonen, he can say smart things, but just as easily says stupid things and his accent just enhances the stupidness.

Nuyens rode 2 hours with a mechanical

He's a deserving winner. And he said this recently:

Als een voetballer tactisch speelt, wordt hij door iedereen aanbeden. Als een wielrenner het tactich speelt, wordt hij een sleper genoemd. Moet ik soms als een kieken zonder kop rijden en een andere laten winnen? Nee bedankt, ik win liever zelf.

^ Not a direct quote mind you

W/r to the CN article of this morning, that's the most colorful language that I've seen come out of FABIAN in a long time!! HE will be the winner because he really wants this one....and he's gong to win it if it kills him. :)
(hope there are no mech's for him..)

Ballan is truly on form and working with Hincapie that should be interesting.

Oh but don't get me wrong. Cancellara is not nearly as arrogant as Tommeke Tommeke.

That guy is easily the most arrogant guy in the entire peloton after Ricco departed. Plus his tireless excuses after each race wear everybody out.

If there are only Nuyenses in the Peloton the Nuyenses would ride differently. For Nuyens to engage Cancellara id a pure contest of strength would be plain stupid, if that's what Cancellara want he should stick to TTs. Besides being a sore loser is never attractive. It's one thing for you as a spectator to voice and opinion on the other Races but for Cancallara to do so is whiny.

The complaint that everybody rode against him is ridiculous. Of course they did, because Cancellara himself created a race situation where it was him against everyone else. It's no one else's fault if he rode foolishly.

I disagree he was foolish. His goal was not just to win, it was to win big - kind of the way Barcelona plays as opposed to Chelsea or so. If the result is all that counts for you, then ok, maybe he made a bad call, but when I watch cycling I want to be entertained, so I'm giving style points as well. ;)
