Re: Re:
Wait, what?
Omloop: 198.3 km
Strade Bianche: 175 km
Dwars Door Vlaanderen: 203.4 km
E3 Harelbeke: 206.1 km
Flèche Wallonne: 200.5 km
And the list goes on.
What's your point? Those are semi-classics. Who thinks of Dwars door Vlaanderen as a classic?
Classics are like Gent-Wevelgem and the Amstel Gold Race. If Paris-Tours was WT I'd consider it a classic as well (and why isn't it?!). FW used to be a classic, but nowadays it's a joke. It doesn't even take place on a weekend (which is another thing real classics have in common).
If it takes place on a Wednesday it's a sure sign you're dealing with a semi-classic.
So factors determining a classic:
- History
- Length
- Profile
- Depth of field
- WT status
- A weekend slot
Strade Bianche checks 4 of those boxes (profile, depth of field, weekend slot and WT status), but lacks the history and the length to be considered a real classic.
