Agreed. I admire Kloeden's and Horner's results. Sure, they're a little suspect, but if you're going to wig out about them then you're going to have a hard time following just about any star rider. And at least they don't make obnoxious, combative press comments all the time.

Bruyneel is super-suspect, but at least he and Demol are excellent at spotting young talent and bringing new riders into the fold. They also run a much more diverse team than most, meaning that talent gets opportunities rather than nationalism.

Horner is not obnoxious by saying i am the 2nd best climber in the world how??? Also i am hoping that Bruyneel can find the next Contador as well. Problem is for most of his riders below LA's/ Contador's level it takes a while for them to develop. I think Bruyneel is suspect but he does have a good feel for riders.Look at how well Phinney was going at Livestrong before leaving for BMC

It's all right. They speak English.

McQuaid will just kick out Ag2r. In two years another couple of big moneybags teams in English-speaking countries will have started up and he can lock down a 22-team WorldTour ("because none of these teams deserves to miss out") with the race organisers over a barrel. Then he can finally achieve his dream of a Tour de France without a single Frenchman to spoil the corporate party (he may also have to kick out Euskaltel, due to the possibility of French Basques riding).

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Not this bull **** again.

He's actually the best climber in the world, if anything Horner is being modest

there are so many other climbers better than horner.

Serious reply to an obvious sarcastic post :)

I'm not sure what to think. My guy feeling is that people like Bruyneel should dissapear asap from cycling so I'm a bit split on this one. Always happy with sponsors staying, but I'd rather get rid of Bruyneel.

It's all relative, I guess. I was just commenting in relation to You-Know-Who. Without him, The Shack is a lot less irritating and obnoxious, I think. And I can't think of too many other Horner comments to complain about--certainly not any Horner propaganda websites, smear campaigns against Horner's avowed blood enemies, etc.

the competition was weak.

You do realise he handle THE Andy Scheck don't you. Take 2 and a half minutes on two mountain stages. Compare that too how the 3rd best climber in the world done against Andy during the tour and you will see why he's so highly regarded. If u think about it in that form he would probably win the tour by 7-8 minutes and that's including time he would lose on the tt

7-8 minutes perhaps in these more recent Tours which tend to shy away from summit finishes and back-to-back multiple high mountain pass stages.

In a more classic Tour, one should expect Horner to take at least 10 minutes.

Very true, what we need to remember though is that Horner is true gent and probably wouldn't take a ridiculous amount of time. I've heard stories that whilst racing on the US circuit after a difficult finish which he won by several minutes he actually rode back down and paced the other riders up whilst shouting words of encouragement. What a great bloke.

Contador did that at the Giro but without taking the win in the first place
