Don't think Levi can take 22 seconds from Contador in only 17kms. He'll pass Machado, though. He should be second overall when all is said and done

i think its 28 sec.......:)
no matter carbon cranck will still say Berto doesnt attack.......:D

It will be this:

If Levi and Machado can come that close to Contador, then Lance will easily beat him.

Contador's season goals are in July. Leipheimer's only chance of riding for himself is a U.S. race in May. Leipheimer should be further along in his training than Contador, but he still got killed.

Meanwhile, as Contador races against other pro cyclists and wins, Armstrong spends his time applying orange tanning products and shaving his chest in Hawaii.

Alberto's post-race tweet via Google Translate:
I managed to win, but this victory is not mine but from my team that has thrown the whole stage from km0.Gracias TEAM

Oh puleeez. Alberto' continual and overcompensated "its all about my TEAM" is nothing
but SELF-serving BS.

It is as REAL as the fake head lunge trying to "pip" Schleck in last year's tour:(
Its as real as the DNA sample he submitted for the OP investigation.
All talk blah blah blah.

Alberto ran HIS team into the ground today - they are practically in last place
on the Team competition ouch.

And as soon as Alberto is no longer LEGALLY attached to Astana, we will DROP "his team" faster than he drops Lance in the Alpes this year lol.

I think the story of the race is Tiago Machado. It looks like he's taking advantage of his big break coming to Radio Shack. He evidently can time trial well to so it will be interesting Sunday to see how he stacks up. Johann may have found himself another really strong rider.

Nice climb for Contador but what's with De La Fuente just completely shattering and finishing 4 minutes behind while RadioShack puts 3 in the top ten.

Alberto won but the rest of the team evidently stopped for lunch before finishing. This was a short climb. Not a good sign for the high mountains of the Tour.

I think Astana will do just fine at the Tour.

Another reason I like AC is that he actually races to win in the Spring, unlike a certain Texan. He's just more exciting to watch.

It was in the finest USPS Disco team tradition. When you are done helping your leader for the day you soft pedal to the finish so that you are fresh to serve him again the next day.

It's called giving your all for your team leader and not worrying about your own results, this is what it looks like when a team actually works for the leader.

The story of the race was Astana controlling the race and delivering AC to victory. Machado is a consolation prize for Radio Shack, no doubt, but in no way is he the story of the day.

And Fuentes (as others have pointed out) shut it down after AC was clear. Astana has to defend the yellow jersey tomorrow, which means a 3rd day chasing down breaks and controlling the peloton. That takes energy.

As George Will put it once, there's limited benefit to explaining the obvious to those who need the obvious explained to them.

Bam. One for the Lance fanboys.

Alberto is just BLUFFING with this "Press Release" lol. The talk of "training less" and "being heavier" than last year is BS for sure. I expect Alberto to win this race by an even GREATER margin than last year. Twitter does not lie - he is feeling stronger and his bike is stiffer and more responsive. The FingerBangs from the podium this week will be the first of many many to come this year.
.

FingerBangBang.....I called it woohoo:)

Armstrong isn't in this race.

Doesn't make any difference to the result though.

His chest hair must weigh at least 3kgs.
Funny how we don't hear that "trains harder than everbody else", anymore.

He does not need hard training anymore. You see, Armstrong, along with help from university research funded by Bruyneel, has perfected a special color of orange skin that reflects the sun and reduces core body temperature. When combined with the extra aerodynamics of a shaved chest funneling air through a one ball diffuser the gains are significant. These advantages over other cyclists have obviated the need for much of the training he used to do.
