The highlights were pretty interesting. Machado isn't ready for what AC is dishing out. A good ride by him, but AC rode away from him like he was standing still. :D

There were lots of people sitting up on the last climb, and grateful to be there. Astana worked at the front the entire stage. Heck yeah, let them relax when their job was done because they have to lead and probably chase again Saturday. If there were stages after the Time Trial, I'd expect them to race there too. The team earned their glass of champagne today for both strategy and execution. And a lot of Astana fans are smiling.:)

b girl thinks it's perfectly acceptable for support riders to just sit up on the last climb and loaf their way to the finish. Happens all the time in her world.

Astana got what it paid for. One great rider and a bunch of bricks.

You must be this stupid to understand that post.

Agree, I have stopped bothering, its just a joke.

I have followed this sport for over 20 years but some of the tactics that are now been projected as correct in the last year are the most idiotic I have ever heard. Its like I am supposed to throw everything that I ever learned about the sport out the window. This was very prevalent during the Tour last year, I have to rub my eyes in disbelief sometimes.

All anyone needs to ask themselves is what comes to mind when the 1989Tour de France is mentioned!!

Nah. The UCI had raised issues back before the Tour. Specialized put in a fix that allowed the bike at the TdF. The UCI banned that fix yesterday.

Having just watched the stage (always find actually watching a race to be invaluable ;)) swordsman is spot on - Astana took their responsibility, de la Fuentes led Contador out from the base of the climb, the RadioShack riders were never even in the frame for the win wasn't even as if there was a reversal and they sat in and profited from the work Astana did, they were simply very very distant. If I were AC, I'd be very pleased with the way my team performed today and, having not knocked themselves out having to drag their rider up the climb, will be fresh enough to work again tomorrow.

Where did you watch the stage?

Sacraficing your self for only one team leader is so pathetic everybody knows that this tactic was only acceptable during the years 1999 through 2005.
The fact that some teams apply this tactic 5 years later is just sick

Absolutely hilarious when certain members concur to this belief.

Is anybody else have problems watching the video? When I go to the page, there is no video playing.

I am. Nothing useful on my screen either. Earlier today there was some video but the side bar only went back to 07:00 and was still or again tennis. By tomorrow steephill.tv will have posted a link to the Portuguese tv highlights, probably... hopefully.

:mad:wee rant: once upon a time somebody thought the internet would be neat for making info available to everyone in the world (that had a computer) but then big business moved in and figured out regional blanking -- which is somewhat pointless when no one in that region is carrying the sport or event anyways.

Okay, done now; off the soapbox.

The UCI acts like a bunch of government bureaucrats:(-- off enjoying an extended Christmas vacation when they should have been making a timely decision on the designs the bike manufacturers were putting forward (that's assuming Specialized didn't hang on to their paperwork until the last minute). But it's no skin off their noses when they spike a design days before it is meant to be raced.

 I'd truly be interested to know how long ago Specialized passed their bumph to the UCI.

And I think I'd be naive to ignore the possibility of a purchased rejection, as previously tabled here... Qui bono?;)

Works just fine for me. Make sure that you are watching the correct date (20.02.2010) and if scroll up to 02:00, it should work. The EuroSport 2 programming starts at about 1:00 in (I think before I said it was 15-30 seconds).
