TV and live streaming video (of final stage)

I just sent this link to SteepHill. It's on The Ocho:)

The Eight CyLTV offers live and exclusive XXV Tour of Castilla and Leon, from 14 to 18 April, with the live broadcast of the end of every stage and in the evening, the more complete summary of each day . Centerno Manuel, editor of CyLTV, will narrate the stages, with the collaboration of cycling coach Quique Carrera and Juan Carlos Dominguez and Santi White, a former professional cyclists.

The live link will start every day at 15:30 pm, except on Friday, the Queen stage, which can follow the race from 14:30 hours and Sunday, to be connected to the round 14:00.

In the afternoon, The Eight CyLTV offer the most complete summary of each stage, at 20:00. The grand finale with all the details of the five days of the round will come on Sunday at 21:00 hours.

The final stage also can be seen streaming through http://www.rtvcyl.es

Half a dozen race days don't seem enough prep for the Giro. That is, unless he is just doing it for training and not care where he finishes or if he wins anything.

He said before the stage race that he strictly did it to evaluate how his training was going. Does he have a contract for 2011, because I can't see a bidding war for his services based on this season.

The news stories about this race are as mysterious as the websites. Some say Sky is the sixteenth team and mention Wiggins as a player. But the race isn't on Sky's race list, and isn't on the main website, but was on the almost identical graphic at SteepHill that has been up for some time. Team Sky Fans doesn't have the race listed.

I just read a news story from the Leon area saying there are 112 riders, which would make sixteen teams of seven. Astana announced seven, and that's repeated everywhere, but Pereiro is not on the list even though he's mentioned as a contender in news stories. And AstanaFans has Pereiro listed for Amstel Gold, so he couldn't be at CyL. Radio Shack also claims to be sending eight. Maybe the race was going to cut back to seven riders to make room for Sky, and Astana didn't get the memo that it changed? This should be some week:eek:

Leading a third string team in a third rate race, that's what.:(

Now this bit perplexes me, when Disco shut down in 2007, he was meant to join T-Mobile for 2008, but he then signed for Astana. Can somebody fill in the rest, did he agree (as in a handshake and he gave his word) to sign for T-Mobile (since then Highroad and Columbia), but changed his mind, or did T-Mobile change their mind?

Small mistranslation. From the original text in Spanish the sentence in bold should be:

with no valverde the road is free for soler to take this stage race. the mountaintop finish is very well suited for him

Well... unless Contador has withdrawn then I fail to see how the road is clear for Soler.

I think the training regime that Conatdor has taken on is awesome. He is doing lots of stuff by himself and is not using races as training. I am really looking forward to see if pushing himself pays a bigger reward than a more conventional approach

I remember castilla y leon in 2008 where soler nearly beat contador if the climb was longer. this year the climb is longer so I see him as a heavy favorite. we will see

That was in 2008. One of these guys has continued to get stronger and win races, whereas the other had, up until recently, not been racing at the top races (not to mention being injured).

Here's what AC said at the time:

Contador was happy after the finish and praised his team. "Our Astana Cycling Team worked again so hard for me. Therefore, I really wanted to win this stage with its difficult finish. I knew Soler would be dangerous, but I had no difficulties to follow him and shake him off."

I'm going to guess that barring an allergy attack on Friday, AC will do whatever he wants on the MTF. Remember, Soler, to my knowledge, has only raced once this year.

My guess is that Brajkovic has a ton of respect for Johan, Lance, and Levi. That's why he's on the team. He's learned a lot from them. Also, Bruyneel likes to have strong teams. He likes to have too much talent. Who wouldn't? A strong team is needed to support a leader in the grand tours. So Brajkovic being on RadioShack is also a testament to great recruiting and charisma by Bruyneel.

I'm excited to see how Brajkovic does. If he does well, Bruyneel will have more confidence to make him a leader in the future. If he doesn't, then he'll continue to be relegated to "third rate" races.

Tiago Machado has also shown great potential by winning the ITT at la Sarthe. He's also a good climber. So this isn't entirely a third rate team.

And Contador is riding a bike with a new paint scheme. It's got the three colors for the grand tours leader jerseys, but with red representing the new color for the Vuelta. I hope that's a sign of things to come.

I do NOT think that Team RadioShack will be able to repeat the
SUCCESS they had the last time Alberto raced against them - Crit Int'l.

There they had three riders finish GC in front of the race favorite Alberto (Tiago, Hermans,
& Horner), along with the Overall Team Classification.

But then again, who knows!

The team definitely has "Muskateer Status" with young riders Beppu,
"StringBean" Brajkovic, and humble Tiago.

They may be able to get the Team Classification again!

The profile of climb made by the race organiser is just a piece of cr@p.

http://www.climbbybike.com/es/ascension.asp?Col=Paso-del-Morredero&qryMountainID=4719

The ski station where the stage finishes is at 1750 m. Climbbybike profile includes the complete climb to the mountain pass. The stage finish should be somewhere after km21, as they have to leave the main road to the summit and take a short road to the ski station. I don't see anything impressive in those last 8 km.

From the 2006 Vuelta:
http://www.lavuelta.com/06/ingles/resultados/ind7.asp?e=7

Almost 20 riders in 1 minute!

I would like to see some good cross-wind riding in the first two stages, but given the field it will not happen. I still remember two Vueltas in the 80's being lost by strong riders missing splits in windy stages in that region.

I find it a bit curious that none of the Khazakh riders are on this team. Seems a bit contrary to the objective of getting them experience riding with the best. Of course I realize the race is in Spain, but still...

it's really interesting for all us too. Even if Vino is preparing for Giro and Max - for Ardennes (Baza is out till June), but it was possible to include some of young Kazakhs like Renev or Raimbekov exactly just for "getting them experience riding with the best".
