If Gesink wins the time trial (or maybe even just beats Valv & Horner) I might cry and stangle myself with a belt or something.

+1.

I can see gesink getting into a podium position at the tour then crashing out on Champs-Élysées

Txurruka broke his collarbone in the crash yesterday, but hopes to ride today to defend his KOM jersey.

Susan

Thanks. I suppose all he has to do is get round although i hope there arent too many sharp braking/turning points. Is there a time limit in the TT?

Sivtsov crashed and broke his collarbone this morning, while training on the time trial course. Gesink did a recon and managed not to crash. He says it's a tougher course than two years ago, because there's an extra loop added to it.

I think the 120% rule applies, but I'm sure the Basques will be desperate to find reason to keep the little guy in the race, because firstly, it would be a shame for him to lose the jersey like that, and secondly, it's a Euskaltel victory in their home tour.

it seems the gc is valverde's as i dont believe horner can out tt him today.

pinotti is my call for a winner. he's been climbing well is a proven specialist on this type of terrain.

would be interested in kloeden and wiggins performances, two biggest itt names here. they've got nothing to save themselves for anymore and being quiet all week shroud be able to put maximum effort today.

rodriguez to keep the podium.

Txurruka out.

Euskaltel Euskadi rider Amets Txurruka not take the exit on the sixth and final stage of the Tour of the Basque Country, a demanding 22-kilometer time trial and Orio Aia. The txirrindulari Etxebarria has had a bad night due to a fracture suffered in his right collarbone and may not be the final podium of the Tour of the Basque Country to receive the prize of the mountain which was insured. As a clean break, Amets not surgery and if all progressing well, could return to competition in late May.

Poor guy was rooting for him :(

I know, was really hoping that he'd be able to hang on for these last few kms to get that classification win (although the Euskatel/KOM jersey is not exactly easy on the eye).

Some good pics from Pais Vasco here (webshop --> features).

The first rider will hit the start ramp in about two minutes.
ETB1 will have it live from 15:20 CET.
Universal Sports and Eurosport will join them about 25 minutes later.
