2010 Wish List

I thought that we could do with a wish list of what we want to happen in the world of cycling in 2010 not what we predict...
You have 4 wishes each...

My 4 Wishes are...

- Evans to win the tour and if not win the giro
- George Hincapie to win Roubaix (He deserves 1 to his name)
- Lance to not win the tour
- Matt keenan to take over the coverage for SBS and for them to televise some live stages of the giro and/or vuelta...

- Hushovd to win a monument

- That someone, anyone, will be able to challenge Cavendish so flat sprints once more becomes atleast slightly exciting.

- Andy Schleck to win a GT

And my last wish will be that Boasson Hagen will actually manage to live up to the absolutely immense expectations many seem to have for him next year.

My wishes are for:

-Lance not to win the Tour.
-Some riders to at least occasionally beat Cavendish in a clean sprint.
-EBH to take another step forward in his career.
-Sweden to get some decent continental teams to bring younger riders out in european competition.
-The anti-doping agencies to catch anyone who cheats.

Do you have a f*cking search feature that directs you to whenever someone posts about Armstrong? Good f*cking grief!

And given he has won 7 times, and is trying to "raise cancer awareness", I would not even say that this is a negative wish.

See ya Rex Grunter.

The thread is by my close pal auscyclefan94 so I checked it out. Haven't seen you complaining about the same faces always showing up in the anti Armstrong threads.

It is funny that somebody has an ambition for someone not to win the Tour. I presume auscyclefan94 was being a bit tongue and cheek.

I would presume he was being serious.

In a way, yes, but I'd like to think LA critics can be a bit self deprecating as well. On another thread I implied the French were just trying to ruin Armstrong's Christmas with this latest issue that has arisen. We can all become parodies of ourselves on occasion.

So negative. But funny.

Come on, at least make your own contribution to the thread rather than cherry-picking wherever someone makes a comment deemed to be "anti-Lance". You shouldn't post if you can't make an addition to the main theme of the thread.

-Haussler to go one better and win a classic.
-Schleck Junior to win the Tour.
-Non-Cav to win the WC Road Race.

Don't get you. I commented on one of the predictions.

MORE RACING- LESS DRAMA & B.S.
And secondly:
*Haussler/Hushov to win a classic
*The emerging of someone who gets to challege Cavendish
*A successful Giro for Sastre
*Andy & Alberto fighting the TDF title to the last breath
*Cadel Evans to get a GT title aside from the tour
*the arising of names like Nibali,Kreuziger & Gesink
*A good tour for Wiggins

You should have avoided mentioning anything related to LA, apparently it is inevitable that the thread then will turn out to be the usual quarrel between the non-believers and the religious.

Gonna add a 5th wish to my list: Haussler to win a monument and/or worlds.

I want no major contenders (be they stage racers or one-day specialist) to be injured and miss a major race.

I want to see Andy when his first GT and AC to win the TdF

I want to see Liquigas live up to it's GT promise.

I want to see Levi assert himself for the victory in a GT.

I would like

The kazaks at astana to have a good season

Menchov to win the tdf

Armstrong to perform very badly at the tour

Petacchi To havee a great season winning some stages in the tdf and the msr.

2010 wishes ...

No major contenders to lose out due to a crash, injury, or other weird incident (think Evans at the Vuelta)

A GT for Evans (doesn't matter to me which one)

Bye-bye Valv-piti (sorry ... either he's out, or get rid of the case and stop bringing it up).

Haussler to take a big win, perhaps Flanders or MSR?

Boonen and Canc to duke it out in PR.

Some sort of sprint rivalry to challenge Cav.

Contra to not win the TdF (but to do well ... and I do want it to be a close race, I want Sastre in the mix, and if Evans is there, him too)

:D

I want to see sastre win another grand tour.
Jose Rujano to return to the same form he had in the giro a few years ago.
some one to beat contador at the tour, and the cobbled stage and the medium mountains to have a decent influence over the GC.
Soler to return to form, and challange for the giro.
cavendish to break his leg, this would make the sprints much more interesting to watch.
BMC not to get invited to the tour, cadel and hincapie to not get any results.
More cycling coverage on TV here in australia

I'll start with a few wishes about pro road racing in general:

- That North America gets better TV coverage of the pro peloton. More races covered, with less bias to one rider. I won't hold my breath.
- I'll echo those who want to see Haussler win a classic this year.
- I would like at some point in the year to believe in the UCI
- I would like the biggest battles to be on the bike, not Twitter, and the biggest stories to be about courage and commitment, not cheating.

And now for 4 wishes specific to the biggest race on the calendar:

- That in week 3 of the Tour de France we are debating about which of 4-5 riders will end up as the winner.
- That we are able to point to a rider and, without thinking "here we go again", say that we really did not expect to see such a good result
- That Garmin has a waaaaay better Tour de France than Sky
- That The Hog has a seizure induced by the ugly Shack bikes and drives off a French col. He's ok, not a scratch on him, but he's covered in 9 litres of blood.

- Hincapie to win Roubaix
- Top riders (regardless of past EPO caught or not) riding well in the TdF
Armstrong (lets see what the old legs can do / Contador controversy)
Basso (It would be nice if he came with good legs)
Contador (riding on a weaker team for once, still should dominate)
Evans (a new team might mean a better run next year)
Kirchen (just listening to VS talk about him and the Schlecks together)
Kloden (interesting ride - I would like to see him stronger than 2009)
Leipheimer (I just hope he rides well and does not crash)
Menchov (hope he brings his Vuelta legs)
Nibali (top ten finish again?)
Rasmussen (just one long stage for a polka dot jersey)
Ricco (ok - I do not like his attitude but he brings controversy)
Sastre (lets see him challenge and prove that 2008 was not an *)
A Schleck (the games the brothers bring to the table is doubled ... )
F Schleck ( ... by their talent)
Soler (lets see the promise he was showing a couple of years ago)
Valverde (Just because it is not Spain)
Vande Velde (riding with a smile - like he cannot believe he is hanging)
Vinokourov (make it interesting and attack your team leader :D)
Wiggins (never giving up on the hard climbs)
- Cavendish has some competition (but still wins most sprints :))
- A chance to actually watch a few of more stages live of the Tour of California.

• CO testing implemented

• More inside, covert doping investigations

• Pat McQuaid to retire

• Hein Verbruggen to retire and become a hermit

• Phil Ligett to retire gracefully (while there's still time!)

• Greg Lemond to win his case against Trek

• Greg to use his winnings to fund a PR firm to help combat doping

• Tyler Hamilton to confess, and truly heal

• A BikePure racer to win a big race

• Further emergence of Nibali, Kreuziger & Gesink

• One of the Schlecks to win a GT

• VeloNews to change ownership, and staff

• Massive race radio failures during key races

• Someone to take their helmet off on the final climb of a super hot day as a protest

(Yes, I realize some of these border on absurdly impossible).
