....so we get to watch the rainbow stripes slip out the back on any decent incline all year. On the plus side he'll be quite visible clinging on to cars.

And at the front in the finish of a lot of races too.

That was an amazing sprint from Cancellara. I guess Griepel squeeked it out, though. But Cav definitely earned this.

A WC race should not be a 90 man group sprint, imho, so I say '********' to this.

Having said that, big repsect for the way the Brits worked their a s s e s off so the best sprinter of recent times could finish it off.

Also big respect to Lars Boom for being in the mix at the end!

Well, the best sprinter of the last 3/4 years deserves a chance too. I actually like Cavendish and on this WC I hoped for him.

That said, death to flat WC's. Its utterly pointless.

This was bit of a letdown of a race, but I am happy for Cav. I would have liked somebody else to win it more, but Cav deserves a win like this.

Those of you who think that a sprinter winning the WC devalues it - why the hell did you even bother watching? It was always going to end this way - even if it had been Goss or Greipel.
Great team effort from GB. Not the most exciting WC - and personally I prefer the hillier courses - but Wiggins and Stannard were awesome.

Why the hell is it so bad that the best sprinter of this generation, possibly the best of all time wins a World Championshp?

Because this is a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, not a sprinter's championship. A world champion cannot have the crippling limitations a pure sprinter like Cav has. It was a pleasure to see Evans and Hushovd displaying what a world champion can do, riding strong in all terrains. A world champion must be able to do that. Cav, on the other hand, won't honor the sacred jersey.

Not the winner I wanted but he and his team certainly deserved it. Besides I can live with a world champion like Cav. Big mouth but a lot a passion for his job. And he'll definitly kill the world champion curse:) We'll see him get a lot of wins with that jersey I'm sure! Congrats!

Is it me or does Cav have a plastic bubble over his helmet?

Yeah, I noticed that too, probably put it on in one of the last couple feed station visits.

Eventhough I dont think Cav in rainbow is a good thing, great finish, as far as we could expect from this course the sprint was good. Nice how the last 3 Ks got every different team taking over the lead. Cav really showed he has what it got, eventhough he lost his train. He really should thank his team.
