in all fairness- Congrats to Cavendish-there is nothing can anyone could do when the parcours was tailor made for him... The only down side of it is how we the fans are going to deal with his hyper-inflated EGO next year?
Ferminal said:London will be better than this. Smaller teams - if they race it like today GB might run out of gas. Also gradients over 4% may help a little although I'm not quite sure when the final obstacle is.
The worst thing about this course is that it the most selective aspect was a crash, not the distance, not a climb, not the aggressive racing.
I actually found it rather interesting, given how hard it was being raced. The tension of a full sprint for a worlds is something else.
But I don't overly enjoy the concept. Maybe sprinters deserve a race every now and then which they are guaranteed to win, but if them, should the cobbled specialists get one too, and an MTF for the climbers?

sublimit said:It was a terrible course and I hope thats the last flat one, Britain did a great job there though and got the job done with some help from Grabsch and Klier early on.
Its not Cav or Britains fault of having such a lame course so you cant slag Cav for winning. I think he rode clever once he lost Thomas's wheel and jumped on to an Aussie. Goss came back a bit but Cav too quick in the end.
Looking forward to next year already..

I am not saying their is much logic in my disappointment regarding cav, he won on what was giving to him, kudos.
But it is a frustrating result, from a poor course. As a result, me and evidently others can't help but vent their frustration directing it at cav. Emotions in their prime i guess.
The course leaves a bad taste which devalues the stripes imo.

The Sheep said:I don't mind the winner really, would have been funnier if some no-name sprinter would have won in the end but don't really want to see parcours like this again on a WC. Maybe in another 10 years.
hatcher said:I disagree (many other nations swamped the front too), but that wasn't your point.
GB did control the race from the start, would have been living a fantasy if they expected to roll into the final 250 metres with no other nations sprinting for the win, and they wouldn't have with any other sprinter.
Broth3r said:In days where you can barely stay awake, maybe. But I wonder how people will react when the world champion drops in the first 2nd cat, and loses 25 minutes per stage without caring the slightest bit. If he doesn't drop out, that is.
Agree with this, particularly the highlighted.Benotti69 said:the UCi pick the course not Cav. Not my favourite race or rider winning, in fact it was a horrible race, a parade almost. But the riders had their chances to take on the Team GB and most failed miserably.
Go ask your favourite riders why they waited for the sprint.
I think the world champion is the rider who has ridden the best all year, but then the UCI would have it's money making race now would it.
Knocking Cav winning a race he entered is pathetic. I'd rather knock, Gilbert and others who have the kick to win in the last kilometres.
At least Voeckler had a go.
Cav bashing is spitting the dummy.
Libertine Seguros said:2010 was a sprinter's Worlds. That was a course that was just hard enough for other types of riders to think they could do it, but not hard enough to stop the sprint. That was an example of how to do a flat Worlds really well.
This year was an example of how to make the Worlds look worthless.
Michielveedeebee said:true, ****ty course, but a sprinter should get the chance to be WC every 10 years or so...
