Degenkolb ftw

Hagen form is coming on. He would beat Degenkold any time on finish like that with good form and I think he is much better now than at Bayern. Still potential threat.

according to cyclingfever.com Soler is in the long list for the Dauphine. But this Colombian web site is indicating that He is scheduled to go to the Tour de Suisse.

Vino will beat him in any finish everywhere so Degenkolb shouldnt be his biggest worry  (seriously thought Edvald will hopefully show some good sprintin soon)

The other thing is the other climbing that day, if people were splintered before the final climb and so on.

I mean, Aprica is hardly the most selective of climbs, but if we take the times of stages that have finished on it, the gaps are massive. Mostly because of the Mortirolo before it, not because the Aprica creates gaps numbering several minutes.

IT looks like a pretty nice field for the Dauphine. Still we won`t be able to tell who will be in a good shape at the Tour after it, but it can be and I hope it will be an interesting edition.

Also I sense more Tour match-up threads after it :D

Is there anybody who is definitely trying to win this race ?

Tony Martin, Alexandre Vinokourov, Janez Brajkovic ???

These 3 are the only ones I could see trying to win it.

Yes, it will be good to watch him but I will have to find a feed to watch Cadel again which is annoying.

My top 5

Brajkovic
Evans
Gesink
Van den Broeck
D Martin

There is no way Jani will be in the top 3 on the Dauphine. He has big chances to do well in Le Tour. I won't be suprised at all if he ends up on the podium.

Most people here are underestimating his abilities on GT. Jani never really had a chance to show what is he capable of on GT.

Vuelta 2006 - he was good enough to end up around 15th place overall, but decided to shine in the first week instead. He also had bronchitis in the last week of racing.

Vuelta 2007 - he was obviously out of form and moral in the team was low.

Giro 2009 - he entered Giro as a domestique with no intentions to do well overall. He was recovering well although having serious problems with allergies through the race.

Tour 2009 - he was informed he was not in the team few days before the race and went on vacations with the best form of his life. He wouldn't be allowed to race on result anyway, but would have gained some important experiences. He was prepared for top 5 in 2009.

Tour 2010 - At the start of the season he had 2 big objectives - Dauphine and Vuelta. He didn't know that he'll be in the team for Le Tour until the last day of Dauphine. If Zubeldia hadn't crashed, he would have been in the team for Le Tour instead of Jani. He was racing sick for the last 10 days, diagnosed with pneumonia and some other infections after the race.

Jani was waiting for his chance to be a captain for too long, so he won't throw it away this year. :D However, there are still a lot of ifs. If he lost time before 12th stage, he won't be a captain anymore. He needs to be better than Kloden, Horner and Lepiheimer on 12th stage. If he won't be better than them, he won't be prepared for top 5 anyway. And yeah, he is not allowed to get sick again :p

I just hope he'll enter Le Tour with around 60 kilos, cause he is too thin to watch in this commercial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ms3SqijPV5k  . He looked way more healthy at last year's Dauphine when he was having around 60 kilos.

Back to Dauphine.

I think Cadel will win the Dauphine. Or maybe some of the favorites for Le Tour, who'll be picking too early. I don't see any of other riders who were preparing specially for Dauphine to beat them. It's great route and startlist, so it's going to be an interesting race to watch.

And that stage to La Toussuire was after 2 and half weeks, not a couple of days. They did the La Toussuire stage in the 2008 Dauphine as well, the gap between the eventual top-5 GC riders was about 16 seconds that day.

Don't think that neither Tony nor Vino will dig too deep to win it.

I think Gesink and Evans will try and win without going too deep.

Coppel, Jani definitely try to win - its their chance before the tour to shine.

VIno will try for a stage Martin for the TT.

Nope, Coppel and Brajko are both targetting the Tour de France. Just like Evans and Gesink.
