What happens if Cadel beats Andy by 57 seconds tomorrow? Is it the best placing on the final stage that decides it? Cadel and Andy sprinting on Champs Elysèe?

Nope, it goes down to fractions of seconds in the TTs, I don't know who is up.

i think andy was pretty heroic not cracking. he tried to do the breakaway again today after what he did yesterday.

i have read everything from andy needs 2 30 on cadel to win the tour to he needs a minute. can someone please help clarify?

Andy won the KOM. The KOM finish line was earlier than the finish line and Schleck was 4th in it so just takes the jersey, I think.

They count hundredths of seconds in (T)TT so those would decide.

They will look at exact times from the tt's. After that it's points classification I think. But they probably won't be tied down to 0.01 seconds.
