Cavendish being magnanimous will no doubt disappoint some here. From his twitter:

"Well, that's me beaten. Went with 250m to go, but didn't 'kick' until 200m. Greipel rode it perfect & got speed by running up on me #hatsoff"

Face it boy, your idol lost to Greipel. And all you can say is "Greipel managed the hills better"? Greipel is a great sprinter and won well against a guy who had held him back for years, the least you can do is congratulate him.

Ah, nonsense. There can be only one in a team like HTC. Cavendish didn't hold back Greipel, it's his own fault for staying with HTC so long. It was an excellent win by Greipel but don't make more out of it than it is. Cav is still the best.

I think Frank is the Wild Card this year

I've been thinking that all along, but aren't as up as everybody else on the top GC contenders, so have kept quiet. I'm expecting Frank to be on the podium this year, possibly even the top step. Problem is Andy's the real dark horse, even more so than AC.

Indeed. Not a hint of bus wrecking or angry twitter fingers;) No doubt he just tweets things he doesn't really feel just to appear in a better light:D

I thought at about 2k to go when he was sitting in second wheel with only Martin in front it was going to take a miracle to win the stage. I think objectively he can only take positives from what was a fairly tough stage for him on paper. I think before the Tour that stage was probably one HTC had marked for Goss depending on how things worked out. Very entertaining stage again.

Cav is probably now only third or fourth fastest sprinter...and dropping. There is a German newcomer name Daigenkolb (not sure about spelling) coming up very fast. There is also a young Belgian named Guillaume Van Keirsbulck, and Sagan of course, and Greipel maybe too

Cav's winning strategy isnt about top speed its all about accellerating. He accellerates so fast he keeps his opponents of his wheel but he doenst have the highest top speed.

1 loss and he is past it - I don´t really like Cav but he is and will be for a fairly long time the fastest sprinter - he may get beaten from time to time but he is the fastest sprinter of this generation and who knows if he continues on winning like this the greatest Grand Tour sprinter ever.

Also he has lost weigth this season which has also reduced his top speed somewhat (but made him able to handle some more hilly terrain better)

Just saw an interview with Hoogerland after the stage. Says it was a tough day, but he was really helped a lot by everyone in the peloton. Everywhere he went there were riders keeping him out of the wind and pushing him if he needed a little help. Also a lot of good reactions from the fans..
Good to hear that sometimes the riders still show some respect to eachother..

He was even pushed up one of the hills by Roman Kreuziger.

I think those comments by Greipel were quite classy.
He is one rider that I have been fairly indifferent about but I have to hand it to him for what he said today.
I'm happy he won it and it was such a clean and perfect sprint.

I sure don't think Cav knows much about 'class', given his comments for the most part and his girlfriend...:p

Cav gained 4 points on Gilbert at the intermediate sprint and 31 more at the finish. New maillot vert standings:

Gilbert 226
Rojas 209
Cavendish 197
Hushovd 163
Evans 135
Greipel 123
Feillu 121

Cav could potentially take the jersey with a win tomorrow!

Hoping Thor goes on a solo break to rack up stage win + lots of green points! Might have to wait til stage 16 for that.

There's nothing wrong with his girlfriend and Cav's interview with ITV4 was surprisingly classy (for Cav).
