Didn't he say "we'll try and get in the break" or something like that? I assumed he meant somebody from Team Sky, not necessarily himself.

Yeah, I just figured for a stage like this he'd be the logical candidate (almost by process of elimination amongst the other Sky riders).

New rules in effect today:

-cars that want to follow the race must have a 2 minute gap (depending on the nature of the road)
-only 8 vehicles (4 from organization 4 from media) will be allowed behind breakaway
-Media cars must have at least 2 journos with accreditation
-Vehicles must overtake a breakaway one-by-one after the instruction from race director and must do so safely

Not respecting the rules will lead to sanctions.

We're looking at the climbs. Their size, their gradient and their proximity to the finish line.

Most sprinters are fairly poor climbers (Cav being the worst). You have to judge how much time they will lose on climbs and whether they will have a chance to catch up.

Today, the last climb is quite small, not very steep and 15km from the finish, so Cav (and the other bad climbers) shouldn't have too much trouble being in the bunch for the finish (in my opinion, others will think differently)

Thanks for that :)
