Rob Ruijgh saying in an interview with Dutch TV that Bertie apparently missed the first OPL forced split as well.

Fearing for Bertie's form right now. :(

He's there with same time. Stop fretting.

Funny thing that it was Noval in the front group instead of his usual finish in the second hundred initially in the results.

Greipel beating Cav almost feels as good as a Belgian winning the stage:)

And great tactics by OPL. Incredible fighting spirit after the loss of VDB2 and Willems.

Hoogerland came in 111th 5 minutes 59 back seems he's feeling quite ok. I have high hopes he'll finish this tour.

Greipel is taller and heavier, what measure of physics are you using?

Climbing ability.

A sprint after relatively hard climbing is by its very nature different from a sprint after a pan flat stage. Greipel handled the climb better, rode the finale with brains and power, sofair play to him. I'm just a bit surprised that Cavendish was there at all, given that Goss and Renshaw were dropped.

Didn't the Schleck's miss it as well? I think it had more to do with getting caught out a bit then a true indication of his form. But we'll see in 2 days.

That's just downright incredible. Many many kudos today for this man.

Face it boy, your idol lost to Greipel. And all you can say is "Greipel managed the hills better"? Greipel is a great sprinter and won well against a guy who had held him back for years, the least you can do is congratulate him.

That was a good one for Greipel. I never had Cav pegged as the winner of this stage, I'm actually surprised he was that high up. Chapeau Greipel.

Honestly, I'm glad he won. It will only heat up the rivalry :D

Think Greipel must have used his weight to his advantage there in the downhill sprint.

Shame for Cav - though the green is heading his way..

It's probably positional. Downhill, narrow bridge, relatively fast pace on the climb before OPL took it up, OPL taking it up early.

Wouldn't read too much into it.

Did you miss the part where I said 'Great, great sprint'? Go back and read my posts. Just because all Greipel fans hate Cavendish it does not follow that all Cavendish fans hate Greipel. André the Giant is a great sprinter and he more than deserves this win today.

However, if you don't think the parcours for the first 160km of the stage affected how fast Cav and Greipel went in the last 1km you are just plain wrong.

Andy (or Frank) missed the split as well because there was a panic of Leopards that came back just after the top (about 500m after the climb)

Now that Farrar's run for green is over, Hushovd asks: JV can I go now for the green jersey? Please?

It's becoming a real slog for the points. Used to be at most 10 sprints that decided this jersey - now it's 25+

Gilbert could pay for today's effort later on. But Cavendish still has to get over the mountains and they've tightened the elimination limits this year
