Really? I remember in 2003 on stage that finished atop the very same summit as today, Lance crashed, kept fighting and won the stage. It shouldn't have been too hard to miss; he was in yellow at the time ;)

I'm sure he was referring to last year at the Tour.

As ive said, this is Samus last chance ever, so i have every right to upset.

It would be great if Samu was 25 years old and i had someone to cheer year after year after year.

I don't get this whole living vicariously through a pro cyclist thing.

He doesn't have that much time to heal his knee. that's the problem.

that says a lot and the least of it is : We have a bike race going on with many contenders still hoping for the win.

It is depending on what the problem might be. He did damn well limit his losses today and, although far from the form, mark out those attacks.

He might be not far off.

I don't think Andy was able to attack - iirc he put in one little dig a few kms from the finish but it was a pretty weak effort, and then he just sat on the rest of the climb. Frank definitely seems to be in better form of the two at the moment.

Yup. I really don't quite get what race everyone was watching where Schleck Jnr failed to make Contador pay.

He was barely hanging on himself. The Schleck 1-2-1-2 turned out to be a 1-2-2-2 with Andy shaking his head when his big brother looked round to see if he was coming over the top.

Contador and Schleck Jnr are going to struggle to podium on that form. I expect Schleck to improve but I'm not convinced Contador can.

I guess Frank Schleck is on better form than Andy thus far, although I'm wondering if the Italian authorities will be getting in touch with their Spanish counterparts regarding that 7000 euro bank transfer, seeing if anything matches up.

not impressed...why everyone so slow?

In 2003, Ullrich rode the Tourmalet at 1700 VAM
Armstrong Luz Ardiden @ 1740 in 35 minutes and change.

Just saying

Still on about this?

It matches up - he wired the money and admitted as such.

Or are you talking about some juicy bags?

The bags, but I guess that should be talked about in the other place.

Agree, I think Wiggo would for sure have been with Evans and Basso, and who knows, maybe better.

But if Horner AND Wiggo were theer, they wouldnt have allowed the Schlecks to control the race. Everyone WAS so freeking scared of Contador in the past that there was a fair amount of watching.

I think Horner would have ridden over the top of one of the first two attacks and gone away with or without the Schlecks.

i didn't think of that take on AC. good point, he got a lot of respect today from the contenders. perhaps too much. Shows you what they think of their own fitness at this point perhaps?

Almost 700 posts more than Paris-Roubaix! WOW!

What a first day!

Almost a great stage, such a shame that the big boys waited so long to start the fireworks.

To be honest, I was completely satisfied at the fact that Andy lost no time today. I had been quite worried.

The fact that Frank successfully attacked and Andy gained on Contador was a bonus.

So for me it was a good stage.

Still, it would be nice to see Andy, Basso, or Contador (if he has the legs) attack 8 or 9 km from the finish, to liven things up a bit.

Or maybe an old-"skool" attack from 60-70 km out, now that would've made it a great stage.

sorry, no offence, but when someone posts something calling someone "that ignorant" is a sign of being a troll. You are in no position to educate me, I can assure you of that. Get over yourself and take things at face value. IT WAS SLOW.

So there's the question again: any takers? Why so slow?

i meant ignorant in terms of why this guys are slower then armstrong and ulrich.

like i said you must ask those questions in the clinic because its against the rules to answer them on this forum section (you can't discuss doping here in case you don't know)

http://forum.cyclingnews.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20

^^link to the clinic enjoy yourself

btw if you ask why was the race so slow today? then we can safe because they raced a conservative race checking each other.

but when you ask why are they so slow? armstrong and ulrich were much faster. then its clinic related stuff
