Those chances went a long long time ago.
My point was that back before the race, Samus chances for podium were based on him slipstreaming with the favourites and hanging on to Contador and Schleck as long as possible.
Its also his best chance for a top 5 now.
Doing a 13k mountain itt while his rivals get a nice slipstream, and Szmyd takes a turn on the front is only going to hurt his chances for a top 5.
