Andy Itt from here.

People are overestimating him. Theres a good 45 minutes to go, and hes got 3.45 advantage.

Has Monfort been holding back for this stage? He got dropped very early in the Pyrenees (or dropped back if he was holding back)

Actually he's currently 30th in the GC so he's n ot done that bad so far. Apart from that he probably dropped back every time he was behind the Schleck's no use for him to spend any energy from that point onwards.

Normally an attack like this should be a joy to watch, but when the riders behind can't even get in the big ring it's just painful.

i don't see them taking too much back on andy, he's going full gas today. problem obviously is how much this takes out of him. Tomorrow might not be a fun day for him if the rest of the favorites decide to really start going

Love how these guys are worried about 5 seconds in an uphill finish in the first week but won't chase this huge gap

They're chasing, but afiling. The leaders don't wanna chase themselves at this point.

Andy closing in on 4 minutes.

Monfort doing a very good ride. epic stuff.

Anyone who wants to win needs to ride now. Basso, Contador and Sanchez all needed to start chasing before Evans... they cannot afford to lose as much time to Andy as Evans can.

Evans TT ability and overall position make him the last person who needs to commit to the chase. He's not in yellow, he's got no obligation to chase anything. He's got to avoid cracking and limit his losses to Andy as much as he can without cracking and losing big time to anyone else. If the final margin were 2:30, Evans would still be within ITT distance of Andy. Nobody else in the race would. He can afford to wait the longest to chase I think.

Agree. :) ......

he will lose 5+ minutes if he doesnt bring it back before it gets steeper

he will lose some more time tomorrow

and that be more than he can bring back in the ITT

when berty goes on the proper climb Evans will not stay with him so he cant rely on wheelsucking AC hoping it takes him back to AS

Evans can afford to lose MORE time then any of the other chasers.

Yeah, at some point it will be too much for him to get back. But the point is that time gain where he hits that point is further out then it is for anyone else.

2:30 is probably his point. If he keeps it to that and can hang with Andy tomorrow, Cadel can win the tour in the ITT possibly. It won't be easy, but 1:15 against Andy is possible for him.

But for Contador, 2:30 would put him 3:15 down. It would be 3 minutes for Sanchez. Neither of them can make that back in the ITT.

Evans can abide by a larger gap to Schleck at the finish then those two... they need to kick in SOONER then him if they want to win.

IMpressive that Frank has the energy to get his own bottles. The speed in the yellow jersey group still can't be at the max.
