I bow to Moose's local knowledge, but that profile suggests a rise of no more than 40 metres.
Maybe, it's the sort of thing Phil Gil could take 5 seconds or so from El Dwarfo, but it can't be more than that, can it?
Time to try the live feed..............
........Ah, just started and there even commentary today!
The tracker profile looks nothing like above!!!

Haha the commentator said this is a stage for sprinter that can get over these hills like Fabian Cancellara and Jens Voigt... Since when are they sprinters?

Does the Shack have any good domestiques for a stage like this? Because thats a pretty big breakaway. I hope they don't use Brajkovic as a domestique for Leipheimer.

I was wondering this last night, and was thinking just how much will he gain joining a top pro team.

Im not sure how the small South American teams work, will he ever have had his position looked at, I assume he would never of done any wind tunnel work. What sort of level of improvement are we likely to see just from adjusting the basics, position etc, and then from actual specific time trial training?

Wind tunnel tests are not even common among many World Tour Teams.

For sure he can improve a lot, but due to his height I donno how much he can improve the position.
But if you simply look at Basso, he changed a lot when switching from Fassa Bortolo to CSC.

I think there were quite a few things that changed...;)

Why did Shack allow this? Vandevelde is way too dangerous. Why didn't they just send somebody like Brajkovic to the break to get it caught or atleast still have the GC leader? My guess is today that the break will stay away.. Doubt it that anybody else from Radioshack or maybe Endura want to take it up.

I think Deignan + McCartney will be able to keep the break from taking the lead from Leipheimer. At the end of the stage i'm sure some of the gobernacion riders will attack and Levi and Brajkovic will follow and they will close whatever gap opened.

Obviously, but I was talking about his position only (not referring to his performances) from a team where they didnt care on working with TT on a team that did a lot of job on that side.

Yeah moving to a team with a focus on aerodynamics and technology does probably make someone faster in the TT
