2 seconds closer to the podium ;)

After seeing how Wiggins has looked these past few days, a searing attack from Mollema on the last hill, or anything resembling an upping of the pace, ought to do it.

Any comments/news about Peter still fighting for green ?

Perhaps the roundabout-issue killed his last chances.

Perhaps Mollema is interested in the points comp

Sagan had a puncture just before the intermediate sprint according to the ticker

I've no news specifically re Sagan but JRod has shown over the last few days he is clearly targetting the points jersey.

2s down, 22s to go..

Still a difficult feat for Mollema. 6s would have helped a lot more. Anyway a stage win +3 second gap would do it now

Does anyone believe that Froome can still win? Thirteen seconds is so little, but yet so much...

He's 7/2 on betfair - so in theory its still live, or there's money to be made if you know better.

Sky have to try but I think Geox will be too strong, Menchov will make sure nothing happens and I'm not sure Froome is good enough to Liquigas the descent.

It would need to be bonus seconds, IMO - hard to gain and keep a gap on that parcours. Only if: the break comes back, a tiny selection gets made on the last climb, Froome wins the stage. I think not.

Menchov looked really strong at Angliru and Pena Carbarga. He seems to be finding his form in the final week of the race.

You dont think the first Vuelta visit to the Basque country in 30 years, one of the sports most notable support bases, is of huge importance?

Yes, and that's why I mentioned it. I'm quite busy and my intro was concise as you can see, but to call it poor just because you would have done it differently was frankly a cheap shot on your part that I didn't expect.

De La Fuente.

Bruseghin is bad news for the break, only being 9.58 down on the GC.

Maybe good news for Sky as others might want to chase. I don't think that Froome will win the Vuelta, but it's been a pretty unpredictable GC race so far

I hope Anton gets the stage today, with a good enough gap entering the final climb.

Normally this kind of stage in Pais Vasco means a 10/20 man sprint... But we all hope for more at the end of a 3 week tour

Well it would be flat-out ridiculous if Sky don't catch down this breakaway wouldn't it.
