Nibali did quite well compared to what I was expecting. tbh, he'd have to move into favourtism for vueltta win.

I was never in doubt.

Actually looking through Froome's results it looks like he's a woeful prologue rider, but as the length of the ITT increases, the better he does - his best results in them to date have been 9th in the Tour de Suisse 30+km one this year and 14th in the 51km one in week 3 of the 2008 Tour.

Still a huge shock.

Wiggins ride is looking less and less impressive. I wonder if he went out too hard chasing the stage win and ran out of gas.

I think that's exactly what happened.

Purito only gives 3 minutes to Nibali, could have been a lot worse. Would have taken that two days ago but obviously yesterday makes this all rather irrelevant.

froome is an ok tt'r but him climbing with the best isn't such a common thing.

I very much doubt he can hold onto this sort of form.

nibbles not so bad. 1.12 to wiggo - pretty good. He can take this from wiggo imo.

His performance yesterday was a surprise to be fair, but to rip a decent time trial not a surprise at all for me. Maybe a lack of opportunities in TT's - I dont know this year.

Froome
Fuglsang 12
Wiggins 20
Nibali 31
Kessiakoff 34
Monfort 59
Mollema 1'07

Very close race at the top. Still looks like Nibali's to lose, especially with all the time bonuses to be had at the MTFs.

You can't possibly be suggesting his performance isn't a huge, massive surprise.

i wonder what some brits would be saying if instead of froome some dirty unkown spaniard was pulling this kind of performance . . .

GC still pretty close, with those on top less certain bets to stay on top, and those chasing with more solid GC credentials. Exciting.

Wow... After four uphill stages, a long ITT and a TTT there are still 7 guys within a minute from the lead. This could get extremely exciting.

Not sure if that was good enough by Wiggins. Nibali looks awfully dangerous to him there jsut 10 seconds down...

3.09 for mollema.

not so bad.

Behind wiggo less then a minute (GC WISE). Pretty good if you ask me.

Well, its how you phrase it - behind less than a minute on GC, behind nearly 2 minutes on the stage.

Kruijswijk and Mollema in similar times... Looks like Mollema didn't want to burn up his matches early in the ITT, nicely done.

But what a result from Froome! Props. Makes me wonder how they will go forward in consolidating this race, especially with Angliru still coming. Good result from Nibali too.

It's wide open, so we'll have an exciting couple of stages left!

7 Mollema z.t.

Looking at this top 7 it seems Nibali has the best papers for this Vuelta. The next days will be very very interesting! It's great so far.

Nibali did pretty well, can't see anyone who can beat him now. And Kessiakoff very impressive once again.

Mollema 25th at 3:09, decent enough. Only 40 seconds to Nibali and 1:40 to Wiggins

He seemed to get better as it progressed. He still definetly in contention.

All Hail Bauke!!!!
