Some pressure on Martin tomorrow to make sure HTC finish their final Grand Tour with at least one positive.

I can't support your lack of faith in the great John Degenkolb! He'll take a stage, I'm sure.

I am hoping for mollema to be within a minute.

On the stage or after the stage?

Because there's no way Mollema loses less than a minute tomorrow on Wigans. He'll lose 90 seconds minimum.

But below 2.30 minutes. TGBM is a decent TT-er.

This is a course for the high-power diesels. Wiggins will take the red jersey, Bruseghin and Menchov should be in the top 10 (stage and GC). Nibali, Fuglsang, Zubeldia and Monfort will limit their loses. Wind speed of 20km/h seems not to bad for the Spanish plateau (but then I live in the West of Ireland). JRod and Dan Browne are going to lose the most. As for the stage, it's close to the World championships, so Spartacus should be coming into form.

1. Spartacus
2. Wiggins
3. Martin (Tony, just in case someone asks)

Bruseghin in the Top 10 of the day? I belive the TT is much to flat for that. Did he ever manage a Top 10 result in a flat TT with a decent field? I can't think of one.

Giro 2003, last stage ITT in Milan, completely flat, 33kms, second place.

Wiggins ought to be confident and motivated now. Puts 1:30 on Nibali and Purito is now done, 4:30 on him. Menchov is as usual the dark horse. Hard to bet on him then he sneaks in with some crazy good performance. Will be interesting.

+1 to all points

except you forgot to mention the nibs diesel making a sound contribution to his overall win. the russian will move up many places on the gc, doubt he'll be
in top 10 after tomorrow. wiggo is on fire and may surpass spartracus:cool:

Like for me, Wiggins will be able to gain something about 2,5 - 3 minutes on Nibali. One explanation - look on dauphine's ITT. And Nibali isn't as great as you think, he will be 10-15 tomorrow.

Cancellara and Martin T. took it (relatively) easy today. So I reckon Wiggins will be 3rd or worse. Some commentators are picking Zulbedia to be in red tomorrow.

You seem determined to suggest that anyone who does well one day will do badly the next and mock anyone who hasn't divined this eternal law of nature.

Perhaps keep the smileys for when people are ***, rather than just when you're trying to push your own opinion based on a single data point.

There is no way that zubeldia loses less than twelve (or whatever it is) on wiggins, barring crashes

Wiggins played right into their hands by looking so good today.

Lol.

I don't think you get it.

Jrod looked great yesterday, but sucked today.

Wiggins looked great today, so tomorrow..

I think you'll find the logic is water-tight.

In other news, I just saw a blue plate. Therefore, all plates are blue.

Rodriguez looks poor today, because he don't like long mountain passes like Covatilla. Wiggins will look great tomorrow, because it's ideal time trial for him, very long and no small uphills.

Great to see a Time Trial near the beginning of the race with everyone then knowing what they have to do in the mountains. Others have outlined the likely winners and losers above, the only one not mentioned so much is Van den Broeck; I’m a bit confused as he is reported to historically be an under-23 World Time Trial champ, but his team don’t seem to have the same confidence in him. Sounds like he’s got the potential to be down there with Rodriguez or up there with Nibali in the “limiting losses” group.

I think the morale of Rodriguez will have taken a blow today increasing the chances of a nightmare for him. Wildcards for a GC top 3 by the end of the stage are Kessiakoff and Froome (i.e. well placed overall and rumoured to be good at Time Trials but I know nothing about them!).

Stagewin
They say Wiggins won’t have lost anything from his Time Trial ability despite losing even more weight and climbing better. I think it will have taken the edge off a little bit, but obviously he is now the favourite for red unless Kessiakoff, Fuglsang or Nibali have a truly inspired Time Trial. I think Menchov will beat Wiggins and pick Tony Martin for the stage.

Prediction Score: 0 out of 9 :)

This is, above all, an aero course. Sheer power or acceleration won't get you far - so the best position might win.

That's Brad.

Actually, I'll go for Fab, Martin, Wiggo. Wiggo in red. And maybe by a margin that he can defend for a little while.

If he's in the kind of form he was in today I can't see anybody dropping him on La Manzaneda, so he'd definitely take it to next weekend at least.

I predict the GC after the Time trial to be:

1. Wiggo
2. Nibali +1:00
3. Fuglsang
4. Monfort
5. Kessiakoff
6. Menchov

or thereabouts.
