How many intermediate sprints are there on this stage? I thought there were two but the official ticker only show's one...

Caruso, Horrach and Benitez out front. 40 seconds back to the peloton with a group of 20-30 in between.

ITV4 commentator thinks there are 2 sprint points.

There's supposed to be one on the third lap and one on the eighth lap. They may have moved as yesterday.

Edit: It reappeared. The 3 breakaway riders took it.

I'm not sure I like this way to end the Vuelta. The champs elysees is usually fun, but that doesn't mean the vuelta must imitate it every year. A short TT like in Milano would be fun. Or something else entirely.

Just finish somewhere else, you don't have to finish in Madrid every year... that being said, next year or in 2013 they're going to finish on the Canary Islands.

A finish in Basque Country would have been great

A long, hilly stage where you might actually win or lose the race might be nice. They have finished in san sebastian before, for instance?

They used to finish in the Basque Country back when the race was organised by a Basque newspaper.

Well, I like this kind of stages. You're going to have X flat stages anyway, so I prefer to have one of them be a bit special. It's not like they had to cut a hilly stage or an ITT to make room for this stage.

Some last meters of pulling for Herrn Lang. :(

Bye, bye Seppel. Great domestique and very stylish on his bike, especially on his TT bike.
Don't really know if this is his last raceday, but I think so.

Gogulski (commentator) just attributed Froome's sudden turnaround to coaching from Bobby Julich. Interesting.

On the question of this stage in Madrid, I like it. They do need to do something more selective in the last week, though.
