2012 Criterium du Dauphiné

Sh*t awful route.
SOooo much clock watching.
Nowhere near enough opportunity for attacking the collective trains that will run here.
In short, the usual one week mirror of Le Tour.
Says all we need to know about it's big brother.

Martin survives the Joux Plane: He wins.
Martin climbs like normal: Wiggins wins.
Cadel either 2nd or 3rd, depending on the German grinder.

Schlecks to ToS.

Major snoozefest, for most of Europe and the US.

to me rouleur always meant strong in flat. different than a flyer, which is more a guy with speed and great itt. but as long as know what we mean both. imo this course is more for very fast itt guys. different than last years itt in the tour for instance that was very hard, or 2003 tour itt, that ullrich won

I always thought rouleur means an all rounder, kinda like Jens Voigt. Someone who is good over both flat and hills, but not a GC guy...?

I think its gonna be evans or wiggins. Wiggins will win, he will be more motivated and have the better form. Evans will want to save more energy IMO. He can add another second in the dauphine to his palmares:eek:

the route is bad but it can still be a great race.keep in mind that last year's dauphine was one of the most hard ridden in the recent history.the MTF's were ridden harder than in le tour.

my picks for the win...peter velits, richie porte, michael rogers maybe...

I thought last year's race was alright. Rodriguez won two stages, VDB went well as did Wiggins and Evans although it does not seem to be as fiercely contested as it used to be. Some of the GC riders are are probably not giving it 100%. Look at the difference in the TT times for Evans on the same course in the TDF.

I think there's plenty of mountains.
The grand Colombier is a super dooper tough climb. All climbers have to do is attack right from the beginning and non climbers will never come back. If everybody goes up the Colombier at full speed there won't hardly be groups at all. It's just that todays climbers don't have the guts to try something big.
The Joux Plane stage is great.
The last stage is actually pretty good too and offers lots of mountains to attack.

**** course. But no surprise here with that ****er Pescheux still in charge.

It would be stupid if the Dauphine course would have been better than the crappy Tour one. :)

Yeah, look at that horribly difficult climb

The Angliru has nothing on this...

That's not the only climb, and it's not that easy too. Certainly in combination with the other mountain it's enough to create nice gaps. And then it's still a long way to the finish line which ggoes uphill all the time. Similar to Aprica. If you are strong, you can surely widen the gaps even more.
Todays climbers are simply a bunch of whiners. Remember back in the days there were no MTF at all. Yet climbers were able to win Grand Tours.

Actualy the section towards Corbier is even more difficult then Aprica with that steeper section in the end.
Those Cat 2 na Cat 1 mountain are really close together. They are more like one climb. Certainly enogh to split the field and create gaps. From the top of that Cat 1 climb it's only a short downhill. Very little will come together again. Then there are still 20 uphillkm where you can open the gaps if your legs are good. Actually that finish is very very intersting for climbers. All they have to do is to attack early

What the ****? Aprica? Does this look like a ****ing Mortirolo to you? Does Col du Cou look like a ****ing Gavia?

You forget.
For Bavarianrider, mountains are something you have in the background................of photographs
and last Saturday night was the highlight of his year.
(All those clocks to alter.;))

Ffs the Col du Grand Colombier is 70 kms from where it counts.
Who besides some, mad, sad french guy is going to launch from there?

By the way, as it is in Grenoble, the Prologue will most likely includ a small mountain too.

Of course.
Grenoble being the flattest city in Europe.
